X86 Hardware issues (WiFi, DAC, Disks, Boot etc.)

Hi,

I’m testing it on an old Acer Laptop, and it works well, but I was trying to get audio from HDMI, but it didn’t work.
Is there anything that can be done?

did it work with the current released version?

You can do something yourself by properly reading the first post and supply the information we are asking for. If that is not possible, then a beta is not for you.

Hi It didn’t work on the stable version

Thank you for that.
I’ve seen the issue, but need help with this from you. Presuming you are OK with SSH, I have a few amixer commands for you to test.
Is using nano for editing a script also fine?
Nothing big, I’ll send a PM with instructions sometime in the next few days, OK?

That’s OK, I can handle it.

Hello, the computer on which the system is installed does not output an HDMI interface. Only the terminal is visible. Changing the interface display setting for HDMI via WebUI does not work.
Is it possible to display the image on an HDMI screen?
The system is installed on x86 PC. Version Volumio 3.423 Intel JasperLake n5095 processor

Feb 05 16:23:05 amaron-renoir kernel: i915 0000:00:02.0: Your graphics device 4e55 is not properly supported by the driver in this kernel version.

This is unfortunate, the current x86 kernel does not support your AZW Mini S graphics component.
This is why we are beta testing with a new kernel at the moment.
Please try Beta kernel 6.1.y

I tried the version you sent, (Volumiobuster-3.424-2023-01-11-x86_amd64) the volumio logo graphic appeared for a second before launch. But right after the terminal appears. Settings in webUI also did not affect.
This is not a big problem, but I still hope that in future versions support for my graphical component will be added

Hi

I just installed 3.423 on an Acer Revo RL70 and couldn’t get sound out of either HDMI or SPDIF optical so I plugged in an old USB Soundcard and that worked.
The soundcard is connected via USB to the Acer then the soundcard is connected to my Denon AVR via Optical.

When I play a DSD file it shows as 2.82 MHz 1 Bit in volumio but shows on the receiver as PCM 48kHz

Why would this be?

Not sure, but make sure your Volumio volume is set to 100%.

Best thing you can do just now is to share a link to a log file.
Perhaps HDMI and toslink are only muted, but for checking that we need a log file.
Boot up, wait until the UI shows up and then produce the log.

@Wheaten could you move this to the x86 thread please?

Thanks for the reply

Here’s the link to the log

Try this for S/PDIF:
/usr/bin/amixer -c 1 set IEC958,16 unmute

for HDMI:
/usr/bin/amixer -c 0 set Master unmute"

When this fixes it, I will add it to Volumio’s HD Audio tweaks.

I get the message
amixer: Unable to find simple control ‘IEC958’,16 for the optical and nothing in response to the HDMI
Still no HDMI sound

Please do

amixer -c 0 scontrols
amixer -c 1 scontrols

This should give us a list of the controls they do have.
I need to check the HD Audio documentation for more info, the log did not give enough.
And I need to know what the exact error message of the spdif unmute was
