X86 Hardware issues (Graphics, WiFi, Onboard Sound, external DACs, Disks, BIOS/UEFI Boot problems etc.)

I would like to thanks @Wheaten and @gkkpch for the help. I am building something like a case and I ll post the result. I also decided to go for a pico psu to minimize the thing

Help me solve the problem: booting the system, library 0 (empty). Autostart shows the last song, but it doesn’t start. I reboot (turn off the power and turn on) and the library appears, and autostart works as it should. Sometimes you have to turn it off and on several times.
Ver. 3.779 x86_amd64, Now playing, AutoStart

@jimmy210967 Please help US to solve your problem by giving us a little bit more information.
Please read the first post of this thread and supply the information we need.
We’ll gladly analyse it and help determine next steps.

@jimmy210967
Do you also have the library issue without autostart and now playing, just the plain x86 image install?
Did you try with a wired connection?

i upgraded the system to ssd, will i be able via ssh to format the new disk / clone the old hdd?
I d be trying the ā€œinstall toā€ in settings, but i feel not confortable…

ā€œInstall toā€ will work perfectly if you boot from hdd (or USB) with the ssd installed.
Just make sure you pick the ssd drive, after deciding you do not need any of it, as your ssd choice will be re-partitioned and re-formatted according to volumio’s requirements. So all data on the target disk will be lost.
As long as you keep the hdd (or USB), you will still be able to boot from it when unsure.
Refer to the BIOS settings to select the proper boot device and boot order.

I would advice against using commandline calls, theoretically you could use ā€œddā€ but that would be a sector-by-sector copy, which can take a lot of time depending on the size of the hdd.

Plus, in case of dd copy, the ssd MUST be larger than the hdd, with ā€œInstall toā€ you may get away with a smaller ssd depending on much data you stored on /data/INTERNAL

@gkkpch thanks for your reply.
I will want to use the SSD instead of the HDD.
So i will remain with only the SSD, both for system and data.
perhaps can i go with the ā€œinstallā€ , and filezilla to have the flac back again, this time on the SSD ?
I was thinking to copy / clone to avoid new settings

Unfortunately you will have to re-configure Volumio and re-install the flacs when using ā€œinstall to diskā€.
However, it is a safer and MUCH faster way than trying a sector-by-sector copy. In case you do want a copy, you need to ssh into Volumio and do a sudo fdisk -l and post the output here.
I can then prepare a copy command for you, but as I said, I do not recommend it.

@gkkpch ok i did install, make the config steps, ssh on and flac on ssd. It works, thanks again.
Last step will be a pico psu, while i am working on the case :slight_smile:
Thanks again!

i should not touch… i tried a theme (classic) now it’s all white. No anything :frowning:
