X86 Hardware issues (Graphics, WiFi, Onboard Sound, external DACs, Disks, BIOS/UEFI Boot problems etc.)

now i will go for why not all the image are used to represent the album icon.
“folder.jpg” but not showing.
Dimensions?

I have resized all my images to 500x500pix to reduce loading time.
Every artist folder has an image “Artist.jpg” and al albums have an image “Cover.jpg”. Which does the trick perfectly.

Keep in mind that you need to have properly tagged all tracks

When done remove the cached art work via Sources => Album Art Settings => Reset Album Art Cache

Hi
Hope someone can help me in the right direction. So, new user to Volumio. Have created a system based on an older but well functioning Intel NUC. I have Volumio installed on the internal M2 SSD - no issues here. Wanted to add a dedicated drive with ripped music, so added a SATA SSD in the internal drive bay. The drive is formated in NTFS and I have copied music onto it.
The NUC can see the drive, but Volumio does not list it under any sources or the internal folder.
I have done a rescan of the music library but not seeing anything. If I go into the Bios of the NUC I can see the drive perfectly well.
Any ideas on how to get access to that drive?
Second smaller issue. I am currectly testing the setup by using a USB based DAC from Hidizs - the S9 Pro plus. Works fine except for when I try to play music the first time after having started the unit (power on or wake up) the I get a loud hiss on top of the music. Stop the playback and then restart it - then everything works fine.
Guessing it is a synchronisation issue but even though I seem to recall seeing a setting with start playback with silence I cannot find it anywhere. Did I mis-remember of does such a setting exist somewhere? Or is there another solution to the issue?
Thanks in advance…

You need to label the drive properly.
Re-label the ntfs drive to “ihdd” or “issd”.

Please start Volumio after ensuring that the DAC has been powered on.
Does this make a difference?
Also, try the DAC with a powered hub.

Hi

Thanks for your replies. Will rename drive and try to see if that works.
Regarding the USB dac - have tried it both directly in the Intel NUC and also inserted into the touch monitor that does have a built in USB Hub with power.
I have also since then realized that the distortion does not only happen after a boot. It seems to happen when ever I access the Volumio system from a "new’ device.
What do I mean by that? Well, first time I press play on the touch monitor it distort the output. Stop the playback and start again then all is fine.
Then I tried accessing the unit via my PC over the Network. Same thing happened there. Distortion at first press of play, then stop and start again and all is fine.
Will test later if same issue is present via my either my iPhone or iPad later today - once I have renamed the SATA SSD.
Will also see if I can find one of my older DACs that I have packed away somewhere to see if this specific to the Hidizs or a more general issue. That could take a day or two.
Will also see if the issue exist using a different interface - meaning something other than USB.
I am however a bit reluctant to connect the unit to my main system. It is a very unpleasant and very loud noise being generated. Would be devasted if I blow one of the diamond tweeters. So, need to be sure all is working perfectly before I make that leap of faith.
In any case, if this is resolved I might end up going for the Rivo Plus instead. Have a bad case of me wants for this one…
But thanks again for all help…

Please supply a log after a fresh restart, so we can see whether there is anything out-of-order in your setup.
Won’t solve your issue, but would help defining the next steps.

Hi

Again, thanks for the support so far. So, I renamed the drive and it showed up perfectly.
Odd thing happened - the noise went away. Now, the way the hardware is designed I am leaning towards that the issue was based on the way the ring bus works with the storage sub systems. In other words it could be an issue trying to address the SATA drive when first trying to access any storage on the bus. Since the drive was not correctly recognized then maybe it created a timing issue creating the noise. However been to long since I was that far down the rabbit hole.
In any case I will try to test in more different setups and with different ways to connect various DAC options. If I come across any issue I will report back.
Thanks…

So, moved the setup to my main system and almost had my speakers blown out. Very strange. I connected it to my preamp with built-in DAC, Volumio recognized it correctly as a USB based DAC. Looked at the volume on my pre-amp and it was on low volume but playing a piece of music was ultra loud. For some reason the volume on the Volumio slider and the pre-amp was not linked. Have never seen this before. Normally turning the volume down on either will also move the scale on the other. Yes, I did move the volume knob down before playback so I assumed it would move the slider on Volumio, but no. Is this a design feature or a bug?
Also, I had hiss again, but this time less. However, I also had noise when not playing any music. It could be based on the USB cable as I needed to change and the one I used for the first test was a very old cable. Not sure how well the electromagnetic insulation is/was on it. Will do more test, but will have to wait until next week. In any case I need to get a better case for my NUC in order for it to become completely silent. Even though I set the fan to silent in BIOS I can still hear it. Will do the log when I get some time… Thanks.
