X86 Hardware issues (Graphics, WiFi, Onboard Sound, external DACs, Disks, BIOS/UEFI Boot problems etc.)

Using Volumio x86 latest version on an old mac mini.
Everything working beautiful.
As I connected this to an big TV screen with a remote keyboard/mouse, would like to increase mouse cursor size.
Being trying with
$ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-size [sizeInPixels]
command, which does not return any errors, but cursor keeps same size.

Any help, please?

Not sure if you have the same issue that we should have solved by capping the resulotion to 1900x1080
Are you using a big TV with a higher than that resolution?
Which exact Volumio version did you install?
People should stop saying “latest” :wink: , this put support on the wrong foot many times.

Version is 3.449 Released Thu 30 Mar 2023.
Not sure how to check resolution or how to cap it!

well, the fix is not as it ought to be, but I will have a look.
As for your issue, when the resolution changes and the mouse is still too small/ did not change, then I have no solution, sorry…

I’m heaving issues with gfx on some of the latest Intel HW and would like to try beta images with 6.1 kernel. Where can I find new image?

I’ve tried few links I found here, but they didn’t work.

Please start with describing “issues with gfx” and “some of the latest Intel HW” (use the proper x86 support thread for it).
Asking for newer betas won’t solve your problems because there aren’t any and currently there are no plans to produce more or move to 6.1

Hello Volumio users. I’ve read various posts that seem to deal with problems like mine, eventually I still haven’t found an answer (or I don’t understand the sulution, as I am not an expert). The system is a Dell Wyse 3040 thin client (x64 mini PC) running Volumio 3 (ver. 3.512 released on 2023-06-25). With the analog “Headset/speaker” output there are no reproduction problems (stereo). With the HDMI 0 (or HDMI 1) output connected to an Onkyo TX-NR509 AV-receiver indeed, playback works with any format (wav, flac, mp3, DSD, etc…), even in multichannel, except for any file sampled at 44.1kHz. When I try to play files (but also and audio stream like a radio) at 44.1kHz, the system displays the following error: "Failed to open “alsa” (alsa); error opening ALSA device “volumio”; snd_pcm_hw_params_set_buffer_time_near() failed: Invalid argument”.
I also generated a log (http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/Km2Sueh.html), if I have correctly understood the guide (Sending logs for troubleshooting - Volumio Documentation).
I am wondering if this problem, which looks to be known, is currently solved (and how) or if it is still unsolved and therefore it is useless to do further tests. Thank you in advance to anyone who can explain me something about.

Hello, I’m also experiencing the same problem via HDMI output (Volumio3 on x64 PC), indeed no problem using the analog output. Looking at the alsa capabilities of the HDMI audio interface, it appears that it offers sample rates of 32000…192000 Hz with sample formats S16_LE, S24_LE and S32_LE. It is hardware dependent.
This means that 44100, 88200 and 176400 Hz are not part of the supported range.
In case you wish to use HDMI with 44100 Hz files, then I suggest to use the upsampling feature in the Playback Options. 48000Hz would be the nearest, upsampling is lossless but does use a little cpu, which the 3040 should be able to handle. Of course, in case you also have 88200Hz files, upsample to 96000Hz. Sample format can remain the same.

Thank you gkkpch. Sorry for my late reply, I was not well. The answer is clear, what a strange behaivour has this HDMI controller. In fact the solution you suggested is what I am doing now. It is not really, there are more controllers or drivers which do not support all rates or formats. Sometimes it is also the receiver tv/ av-receiver) not accepting some of the formats. I doubt whether that is the case with yours.

Thank you gkkpch. One question/suggestion more, this time about resampling. Resampling options are about “bit depth” and “sample frequancy” (both inclusive the possible option “native”), and quality. After resampling process, the output is always stereo, even if the original surce is multichanel. Suggestion: is it possible to add an option “Channels” where the user can choose between e.g. “native” or “stereo downmix”?

Afaik there is only support for stereo downmix, sorry.

I tried at first using an old asus laptop, with the usb booting, bit it would throw an error. Tried etching with balena and rufus, and still got the same result. So I found an offer on a Kamrui KAMRUI AK1 Pro Mini PC Windows 11 Pro, 8GB RAM 256GB SSD, Intel Celeron N5105 Procesador, Quad Core Micro Computer, with an AMI bios. So I tried running the same usb, and got the same error, which reads as shown below. Any ideas how can I fix this?
