I have just flashed volumio 3.779 onto a sdcard and inserted it into a pi zero. After booting up, I went to the sources menu and added my music source from my NAS server,
I then scanned the music source but volumio only found about 25% of the music I have on my NAS server. It can’t be a permissions issue if it finds 25%, so why doesn’t find the rest of my music files.
You make a strong a suggestion based on assumptions “It can’t be a permissions issue if it finds 25%”.
Reboot your device, preform a rescan and share a log right after it.
The majority of these kind of issues are based on;
- broken files
- permission issues, like copy files from a windows machine to a Linux box (NAS).
Where is or are the log files location in Volumio
To get the log files, use the dev page (replace volumio.local with your device name or IP address)
http://volumio.local/dev/

There is no share option but send and copy, so I selected send.
If that is incorrect please tell me how to share it
Thanks
Ok I copied to clipboard then it was sent, if that is what should be done
Hey @robg,
The log URL is not automatically shared with us when you click “Copy to clipboard”. You need to paste it into a reply here.
Follow these steps:
-
Open your browser and go to: http://volumio.local/dev
- If that does not work, use your device IP address instead, for example: http://192.168.1.xxx/dev
-
Scroll down and click the “Send Log” button
-
Wait until you see the message “Log successfully sent, this is the link to your log file”
-
Below that message you will see a URL starting with http://logs.volumio.org/
- Click the “Copy to clipboard” button next to it
-
Come back to this forum thread
-
Click “Reply” to open a new reply box
-
Click inside the reply box and paste the URL
- Windows: press Ctrl and V together
- Mac: press Command and V together
- Or right-click and select Paste
-
Click the blue “Reply” button to post your message
We need to see that URL here, in this forum thread to investigate why only 25% of your music is being found.
Kind Regards,
Thanks, and I didn’t know what i should do as it wasn’t very clear to me before
Anyway, it says log successfully sent
http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/gi5vG97.html
I hope that I have done it right now.
Thanks
I don’t see errors, so I’ am curious if all available folders have been mounted.
What is the output of:
ls -als /mnt/NAS/TrueNAS
root@freenas[~]# ls -als /mnt/NAS/TrueNAS
ls: cannot access ‘/mnt/NAS/TrueNAS’: No such file or directory
What information do you want me to find, but there is no file management system in TrueNAS
hehe, you need to run that on your Volumio device ![]()
Sorry If I was not clear.
Ok, but how do I get to a terminal in Volumio
Now it wants a volumio password and I am using volumio but I get permission denied please try again. So what is the password?
Did you enable SSH in <your-devices-ipaddress>/dev ?
user: volumio
pw: volumio
Do you mean the device which volumio is on or on the desktop computer I am trying ssh.
Please give me more detail as it is important.
I am not going to type everything over form the link I gave you. It’s obvious you do this on the Volumio device…
Where do I enable ssh in volumio then, as there is no mention of it in the Network settings
