I’m using native Tidal Connect from the phone (Android) or computer (Apple) to the Wiim Pro app and coax out of the Wiim to a full rendering MQA DAC. Zero problems. Wiim includes a 10 band EQ or 4 band PEQ, if you like that too. Every time I tried to add the EQ functionality to Volumio the app would eventually start acting up and have to be wiped. Sorry guys this app isn’t worth paying for. I tried it for 2 one year subscriptions and it never improved, it actually got worse for my use case.
It’s a good thing I have a coax input reserved on the RME for my Yamaha YBA-11 Bluetooth adaptor, best thing I ever bought.
What the status for now about this Tidal connect issue?
Not fixed.
Also still have the same problem.
With spotify all good
Fyi- this topic aint about Spotify
As an update, this bug also affects long playlist playback. I tried listening to the Encore: New in Classical Tidal playlist today and the connection between Tidal Connect & Volumio dropped out around track no. 20.
No skipping or searching involved. It simply happened. As usual, I had to reboot for playback from any other source as the “failed to open ALSA device” error message appeared.
Once again, hope the fix comes soon.
Same, it was working just fine, but now it’s all gone! whish I would have stuck with ROON, at least that was totally stable!
I have observed issue also when paying tidal from volumio … in long playlists
Yesterday I’ve tried volumio version 2.9xx. The same problem with tidal connect. I’m thinking it’s not problem with volumio.
No it’s not specific related to Volumio. The team is working hard on it with Tidal. They’ve made some great improvements with Tidal connect.
Be patient…
Thanks for the update.
Any news about this topic from the volumio team
Hello all,
Chiming in after yesterday’s 3.661 update. Tidal Connect seems much more stable now, but I did manage to trigger the issue in 2 instances last night:
-
As soon as I updated, I started switching from track to track, moving forward and back within a playlist or album, very quickly. I understand that’s a fringe-case behavior and in no way how anyone listens to music, but it did succeed in manifesting the error.
-
After that, I stopped looking for it and just listened to music for a couple of hours using only Tidal Connect as my control interface and source. I played tracks from many different albums and playlists without issue until it finally kicked in while choosing a single different track at the end of my listening session.
Hope this helps. Again, so far, it’s much better than before.
Great to hear. And whenever it fails sending a log will help us fix it for good
Will do. Using Tidal Connect again today, no issues. Also, unrelated to Tidal Connect but related to 3.661 - it does boot faster.
I installed 3.661 yesterday, will test it out tonight.
Be nice to sort out the tidal connect issues. Got a feeling the AI is a bit better when autoplay my own collection.
No point doing the test mode installs if it means a reflash back to the normal version.
After updated to 3.661 Tidal connect still not sync when playing album
Use Samsung s21 phone and Tidal connect to volumio primo hifi edition
To help developers understand better, would you please elaborate on what you mean by “Tidal Connect will not sync”? For example:
-
Do your Tidal client apps (Android, Desktop) see your Primo as an endpoint? If not, does it appear after a “refresh” of available outputs, by clicking on the Tidal speaker icon for a 2nd time?
-
What happens when you select your Primo as an endpoint? What do you see on the Tidal app, and what do you see at the same time on the Volumio app?
Also, have you contacted support with this, and provided them with a log?
