Installation was without any problems pretty fast actually, but I got a strange error choosing my output device so I made a fresh install to reproduce it:

I’m not able to play any music(spotify, local stored mp3s) because I get the error “failed to open audio output” after a reboot I there was my hifiberry set as output device but if I open the dropdown menu only audio jack and HDMI are shown.
Hi,
tried now for some time to bring it to work, but no success. I have an Raspberry 2 with a Hifiberry DAC+. I tried this on an 0.99x release and now on the 1.0 release from Oct. 3.
It seems to run:
volumio@volumio:~$ systemctl status volspotconnect
● volspotconnect.service - Volspotconnect Daemon
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/volspotconnect.service; disabled)
Active: active (running) since Wed 2016-10-05 10:00:00 UTC; 42s ago
Main PID: 2508 (sh)
CGroup: /system.slice/volspotconnect.service

└─2512 avahi-publish-service Volumio _spotify-connect._tcp 4000 VE…

Oct 05 10:00:01 volumio systemd[1]: Started Volspotconnect Daemon.
Oct 05 10:00:02 volumio volumio[2508]: Established under name ‘Volumio’
But on the volumio interface it’s still inactive and I can’t see it in spotify as well.
any idea?

I’ve seen this while switching from a Hifiberry Dac+ (installed succesfully with Spotify following the steps in my earlier post) to kali reclocker + hifi Dac combo.
I solved this issue by just setting it to hdmi and rebooting. After the reboot I could change the settings to the proper Dac
Edit: followed by the same steps as I did before (saving device name/output/mixer, reboot)

Thank you, will try that. hopefully it’s not the dacs fault

Did you try the steps I used to get the Hifiberry Dac+ to work (earlier post in this topic). I did not have any problems.

I just got the Kali reclocker + 2.0 Dac combo working with Spotify as well.
First observation and more open cleaner sound as the Hifiberry Dac+. They only need to fix the sample buffer clear issue (repeating the last buffered sound when stopping the music and/or starting new music)

@kaosmagix you asked me for doing this?
- Saved device name / output / mixer
- Installed plugin
- Configured plugin
- Saved device name / output / mixer
- Reboot
Yes I did, no result. but now systemctl has a message about a Segamentation fault…
volumio@volumio:~$ systemctl status volspotconnect.service

Now Hifiberry Dac+ is set as ouput device, but in the dropdown menu are still only audio jack and hdmi as an option. If I play music I get no sound and under alsamixer my hifiberry is not available either

I don’t know what could cause this, but as I understand you correctly not related to the Spotify connect plugin but general Volumio.
Did you try to load the public image (Augustus 2016)? If that works you could try to upgrade it using the /dev page settings
Another thing I found is that you can’t just reuse SD card since loading a new image on it seems to keep the other partitions intact (it kept remembering some settings and I could not install plugins as it said it already existed). I now always remove all partitions and reformat the boot partition to ntfs (to be sure it is fully overwritten).
If the issue is not solved I suggest to open a new topic for it, since it’s not related to the plugin.

Yes will do this if your last idea doesn’t work (already tried 1 and 2) shouldn’t spam off topic in this thread

Hello. Having got this working with 0.979, I decided to re-attempt it with the 1.001 image.
I couldn’t understand why it wouldn’t install, until I noticed that I was using a low powered phone charger. I switched to an iPad charger and the install worked first time. Coincidence?
Anyway, I got it all working on a cheapo Micro SD card. Volumio shows up in my desktop Spotify app.
Having bought a “proper” SanDisk Ultra card, I tried to repeat the process. No matter what I try, the Spotify Connect plugin always shows “Inactive”. Is my first working install (on the cheap card) somehow locking out my Spotify account on the SanDisk card?
Thanks!
Hi,
I don’t think there is any relation between SD quality and plugin installation… But one thing us certain, most of the time it fails in first install.
I also noticed yesterday the avahi-utils package required for the plugin was not available for download from the raspbian repo… To check, disable family share in plugin setting…
What is the dac you use ?
Sorry it’s taken a few days to reply. I was waiting for a 19v power supply for my DAC Amp. I’m using a Suptronics x400, which I believe is the same as the Audiophonics ST400. Anyway, I managed to get it all up and running last night, controlling Spotify from my phone. Brilliant! Thanks so much!
This is with 1.001
So I got my new Hifiberry now after my old one was broken… Installed your plugin but it’s not working (and not shown as active) so I updated to latest dev version (2.000) but still no luck:/
@flatric,
Sorry I made some important changes yesterday that brokes the plugin… I nearly corrected and I’m testing it. I think I will upload a new version if it works properly (in about 1 hour)…
Once again, sorry for that
Haha ok, no problem:)
The new version is online !
Now it supports armv6 devices (rpi B and probably rpi zero) !
But installation for this device required to download a big file (180Mo) and is very long to finish setup >15min… So be patient…
Let me know
have a look at the readme :
https://github.com/balbuze/volumio-plugins/blob/master/plugins/music_service/volspotconnect/readme.md
the plugin :
https://github.com/balbuze/volumio-plugins/blob/master/plugins/music_service/volspotconnect/volspotconnect.zip
Thanks for the great work!
I only have a slight problem. During one of the recent updates my working external usb card stopped working. HDMI and audio jack are still working, but using STU isn’t showing up as a spotify connect device. Using airplay does work though.
I did run sh /data/plugins/music_service/volspotconnect/spotify-connect-web/startconnect.sh, see the output below. Any help would be really appreciated!

I am running the latest volume version as of today and just installed the latest plug in version
I’m sorry to say that, but your new version isn’t working for me too:/ will try and make a clean install of Volumio 2.000 tomorrow and will reinstall your plugin then. Maybe it will work:)
