With hifiberry dac+?

Yes the HifiBerry DAC+ (when my Kali Reclocker / PIDac arrives I will test it with them as well)
I upgraded my 0.991 image to 1.001 (using the /dev Test upgrade “Yes” option) and the plugin still works. (HifiBerry DAC+)
For configuring the plugin (on 0.991) I took the following steps:
Note: Installation of the plugin seems to launch the installation twice, finishing with the error plugin already installed. But after this it just works (so not really an issue for now)
Got a new set of problems:
The new plugin works perfectly with the Hifiberry + DAC, but I changed to another amp, and I need to use the embedded USB DAC (using software mixer)
When I set Volumio 2 to the USB DAC, the plugin loads perfectly. However, when I try to play a song via Spotify, there’s a lot of static on the left channel + the music plays faster than expected. Using Volumio on a normal basis (e.g. webradio) works without any issue.
Any idea why? Am on the latest 1.001 version with the latest plugin installed.
@kaosmagix Thanks, than I’ll test it a soon as I got time

Balbuze, I think I found the issue preventing the plugin to install. Please remove the node modules we don’t use.
Easy way:
edit the package.json with the real needed node modules ( kew, net , v-conf, fs-extra)
rm -rf node_modules
npm install
Then repack the plugin. It will be much smaller and will install without problems
Let me know
Ok thank you. I had planned to clean the code and remove unused node modules. So you confirm !
@cornelam the plugin won’t add a mixer. As I haven’t a digi I can’t test… save the field with mixer even if enpty. Could you give the content of /data/plugins/music _service/volspoconnect/spotify-connect-web/startconnect.sh. please remove your credentials …
@balbuze Good news: everything is working now, including my HiFiBerry Digi+
What I did?
Following these steps:
I upgraded my 0.991 image to 1.001 (using the /dev Test upgrade “Yes” option) and the plugin still works. (HifiBerry DAC+)
For configuring the plugin (on 0.991) I took the following steps:
- Saved device name / output / mixer
- Installed plugin
- Configured plugin
- Saved device name / output / mixer
- Reboot
I also have two options now to choose in Mixer Control: 1)Software Volume Control and 2) SoftMaster. Each option does broadcast Spotify Connect in the official Spotify App. I set as output device: HifiBerry Digi.
I’m a happy man ![]()
SoftMaster and SofMixer?
Balbuze, with the latest fix did you add software volume control? If yes, pleasse remove it since I added it to Volumio…
@michelangelo : no I didn’t add mixer… Even if I was waiting for it…
Ok then it might be my responsability then
I removed all useless node modules. It’s really lighter! But unfortunately, installation is still weird. It works the first time but it seems to restart twice and the button “close” at the end isn’t available. But it is written “plugin successfully installed” ( and it is )… There something else.
github.com/balbuze/volumio-plug … onnect.zip
But I’m happy if it works with various DAC !
@cornelam : As it works with digi+, could you please past the content of /data/plugins/music_service/volspotconnect/spotify-connect-web/startconnect.sh
(replace your credentials by XXX) ? Because I don’t know if it is because of my last mod or due to software mixer … Thanks a lot !
@ borez : I already have this problem with a usb dac ( but not with the plugin nor spotify ). Restarting the player (in playback setting, save the output) solved the problem in my case…

Hi Balbuze,
As requested:
cd /data/plugins/music_service/volspotconnect/spotify-connect-web
./spotify-connect-web --username ‘xxx’ --password ‘xxx’ --bitrate 320 --name 'Volumio' --playback_device hw:1 --mixer SoftMaster --mixer_device_index 1 &
avahi-publish-service 'Volumio' _spotify-connect._tcp 4000 VERSION=1.0 CPath=/login/_zeroconf
Ok thank you
Firstly, thanks Balbuze for all of your hard work!
I’ve successfully installed the plug-in on top of a fresh install of 0.979 (on the second attempt - initially the plug-in failed to upload) and got music coming out of the Pi’s audio jack.
I have ordered a Suptronics x400 amp/dac. Is this the same as the ST400 you mentioned earlier in this thread?
Anything special I need to consider or do to get Spotify Connect working with this board?
Thanks a lot!
Treve
Hi, this board use iqaudio driver. So it should work fine!
In volumio select st400 as DAC. I’m using one of those boards.

Oh great - I’ll give this a try when it finally arrives from China!
Made a complete fresh install of volumio and still get the “failed to open audio output” error. Could it be that my hifiberry is broken? But I could see Volumio in my spotify application for about I sec, thrn it disappeared again.
Is the Spotify plugin installed?if yes disable it. Volumio should not be playing a file when you want to play from Spotify connect.
How was installation? Long? Failed the first time?
Which version of volumio do you use ?
