I just got my SMSL N100 yesterday, and is sounds great with my FiiO K13 R2R, it just blew me away as I, until now, only used my Mobile with a FiiO KA11 dongle, and that sounded ok, so my expectations when installing the N100 and the K13 R2R was high, but it was much better that expected, so I’m really happy.
The N100 is updated to the latest firmware v3.789 and it’s all been less of a hassle to what I was expecting, as this is my first Streamer.
When I’m playing, I use my pc via my browser with the IP from the N100 as using the Volumio app on my phone it not really intuitive for me.
I use the Qobuz plugin in the Volumio app and it’s fine when using it from my pc. (I really hope we could get Qobuz Connect).
For connecting the N100 to the K13 R2R I’m using a QED Performance Digital coaxial cable.
But today when I was testing and listening to some music in 24-Bit 192 KHz I got small sound drop-outs, on some songs more than others, but it’s disturbing as you can imaging.
To find out if it was the N100 or the K13 R2R I connected the my mobile via USB to the K13 R2R and it’s playing without a hiccup.
I hope someone know if this is because the N100 can’t handle Hi-Res or if it’s the Volumio app?
I have until November 6. to decide if I’ll keep it or get a full refund, so if there’s is no solution for the music drop-outs I’ll return it, even if it works fine with lower resolutions and I love how it sounds.
EDIT:
I know 24 Bit 192KHz is not needed, but the Album I listening to on Qobuz is Dire Straits: Money for nothing, and I can only find it in this high resolution, and it’s not something I wan’t to worry about in the future, I just hope there is a solution for this problem.

I have spend a lot of time trying to resolve this 24-bit/192kHz playback issue, and I also tried to contact SMSL. but that is not an option, as I only use Gmail, and they specifically state they won’t answer and may not even receive mails send via Gmail.
I made a return with Amazon, so it’s sadly going back.

Nobody knows SSH password. SMSL support refuses to share it too.
You can try repack img file adding the plugin. Maybe you’ll be more lucky than me.

I bought a N100 off of eBay. It was like new and I set it up. The product was awesome for about three weeks. No issues and I was very impressed until one day I got the flashing green led of death. The device was hard wired and I still had wifi activated as well. No matter what I did I could not get it to connect to the network.I also cannot get it to reset or to give me the wifi hotspot for setup. I have it on a mesh system and I set the system to be 2.4 ghz and that doesn’t work. I have plugged it directly into my router and that didn’t work. And since I bought it off of eBay SMSL won’t help me either. I opened the case and took the sd card out and restarted it hoping that might change the loop. Nope…Does anyone have any suggestions?
In case you do not get a reply from the community, you will need to get in touch with SMSL support as they are, as an OEM supplier, your first point of contact.
I don’t see the reply but I did get a solution from a community member that is working so far.I contacted SMSL and they sent me to the retailer. Unfortunately it was purchased from eBay
I had a similar problem. I flashed the image on my own sd card and turned off wireless in the settings since I use a wired connection for best sound quality, and it’s been stable ever since I did that.
Is there any word on when Roon is going to be fully supported in the N100 firmware? It was sold as working with Roon. I created my own sd card image that allows it to work with Roon but no Volumio this way.

Hello, I have an SMSL n100 streamer. I have connection problems. N100 is on, blue led always on, and my mobile can not find the streamer. I tried several times to connect but unsuccessful. Could you please help me?
Remove the bottom cover, turn it on, and see if the red LED on the large board lights up during bootup. It should. If it doesn’t, try unplugging the power cable while holding the power button down in different positions. I’ve noticed that sometimes it doesn’t like it and the device refuses to wake up.
Alternatively, you can flash a different microSD card and try that.
BTW I finally solved the problem with most of music plugins I needed in native SMSL firmware.
So now I have “Premium Device” subscription with Qobuz + Radio Paradise, Yandex, Emby and others.

BTW Raspberry Pi has also no IR receiver, but I solved this problem for RPi 3B Plus five years ago. Here’s the description (in Russian):
Nano Pi Neo 3 has different GPIO assignments, and IR Remote Controller plugin would not work without modification.
I updated Volumio for the N100 and a Roon plugin showed up that I didn’t have before. Is this a higher quality connection or the same quality as the airplay connection to Roon we have always had available to us?
