QOBUZ Connect integration on VOLUMIO streamers

HifiBerry Digi:

Thank you, a factory reset appears to have resolved this playback issue, at least so far no track skipping or sudden stops to the music after the reset and plugin/settings reconfiguration on RPi 4B.

I tried a factory reset again after posting logs.

Also tried setting the networks on both machines (Allo DigiOne - wired; HifiBerry - wireless) to automatic IP rather than static as originally configured.

Same issue with skipping to next track when pressing pause in Qobuz app. Again, this issue resolves when enabling Multiroom Playback. I like to turn off as many features as possible in case any of them has an impact on sound quality. Multiroom in Roon can be heard. Considering dropping Roon now that Qobuz Connect is out. The pairing with Volumio is cheaper, Qobuz Connect through Roon sounds the same to me as through Volumio, and I only stream.

Thank you Team Volumio for the service to our community.

When using the CLI (volumio stop or pause, and then volumio play) with Qobuz Connect, the stop action works, but the start action after that does not work. Starting is still possible using the Qobuz App, but not using the CLI.

Hi,
As a user of a Allo Digione Signature, I would like to share my experience with the playback/pause button on Qobuz Connect : after installing the latest system version and doing a factory reset, everything works fine in the Volumio app. But when using the Qobuz app (from iPhone or Mac), the problem remains the same : pause button skip to the following track and no way to stop the music…

HI All

For those who would like to understand differences between QOBUZ connect and other maners to stream music, this article very well done explains what makes new qobuz connect against other ways. The link targets text in French but with Chrome web browser you can activate the automatic translation . I tested it , it’s ok. Below the link to access.

Qobuz Connect explanation

Hi,

is there any update on the ETA of this offer announcement? I am itching to try this but don’t want to change from Virtuoso to Premium prematurely, if this offer is coming.

Hello,

We’re currently working on it, and I expect that an email with the discount code will be sent to Virtuoso users within a week.

Thank you for your patience.

Best regards,
Davide

I updated two weeks ago from Virtuoso to premium and to date do not have a working Qobuz Connect. Refund?

We were ready to launch it today. However there has been a showstopper (not depending on us) that has delayed it. We hope we can send this out next week.

Sorry for the wait and thanks for your patience

Hello,

Qobuz Connect is full working on Premium plan, if you have some issues on that please raise a support ticket HERE

Thanks

could you please try to enable multiroom, reboot and try again if the issue with clicking pause is solved?

I said in an earlier post that Qobuz Connect through Roon sounds the same to me as through Volumio. This was an assumption based on other accounts. Personal A/B testing in the last few days has shown to me that Qobuz through the Volumio Roon Bridge plugin sounds better in my system than Volumio Qobuz Connect and the Qobuz app operated on my iPhone and distributed through my Raspberry Pi 3B+ with Allo DigiOne Signature hat. I presume there is either weight in the Qobuz Connect Volumio implementation or problems with the implementation that are causing the discrepancy. This post is not intended to rush a solution. And of course there may be things going on unique to my system. Regardless, I look forward to the next implementation when the Volumio team thinks it’s right.

Runing 3.812
With Multiroom on (and reboot) the issue is gone. Pause does pause
With Multiroom back off, the issue is back. Pause skips to the next track

@jacobacci

I tested this on a Raspberry Pi 5 and was able to reproduce the issue only when QC (Windows app) was running. The problem occurs when enabling or disabling Multiroom without restarting the Qobuz app. However, if Multiroom is toggled and Qobuz is restarted, everything works as expected.

Unfortunately that is not the case on my setup with an RP3 and using the iOS Qobuz app 9.0.1 b250512160100.
I killed and restarted the qobuz app on the iPad when I rebooted Volumio (the app was off during the Volumio reboot). The behaviour was the same as before

Tested the same using:

  • iOS 18.5 on iPhone 15,
  • Qobuz: 9.0.1 b25051216010.
  • Volumio V3.812
When switching Multiroom, the Raspberry Pi disconnects automatically in Qobuz. Selecting/connecting it again allows playback without issues.

@Darmur
Could this be related to the Raspberry Pi 3? I can’t test, as mine have ventured into the eternal hunting fields

unfortunately this issue is related to a function required by the Qobuz SDK, that in the kernel driver of some devices is missing.

When multiroom is enabled, the volumioswitch is in place and the pause function required by the Qobuz SDK is handled properly.

So for the time-being, the workaround is to keep Multiroom enabled.

Sounds like this will be an issue for the Odroid images as well. They (the official ones at least) have really old kernels.
