I flashed V0.069 this morning, but for the moment I do not see any OTA upgrade to V4.002, but i will wait. Probably is a temporary issue.
The first thing I noticed when switching to this version is greater stability for streaming to Google devices. This was an Achilles heel I had encountered in previous versions. Have any specific improvements been made in this area, or is it an effect of the underlying OS being Bookworm? Or is it just my impression?
Just for the record, I have a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.5.
Iâve also updated a Pi4 8GB from 0.069 to 4.002 now. Disabling FusionDSP and PeppyMeter Basic, it plays DSD as DOP and 96/24 fine over i2s/HDMI but also fails at 192/24.
Hi ,
I have flashed v0.069 but the version 4.002 does not appear as OTA update . O have enabled test mode . Rpi4
Thanks
Hey @Lintbf,
We are asking all Alpha testers to read the thread before asking questions. It seems that somehow you have missed the existing answer to you question.
Kind Regards,
Thanks .
I have disabled the test mode , restarted , but still you are ok latest version .
Do I need to watt for a specific time ?

Thanks
Hey @Lintbf,
Please note that one often-overlooked requirement for receiving ALPHA OTA updates is setting a unique hostname. If your device hostname is still the default volumio
, the update will not be offered, even with Test Mode disabled. This acts as a safeguard to prevent users who havenât read the ALPHA thread from accessing development builds.
Steps:
- Go to Settings > Network.
- Change the hostname (e.g.
volumio-rpi4-myname
). - Save and reboot.
This should offer the OTA for v4.002 on your RPi4.
Kind Regards,
That solved it
Thanks
When i try to install touch display plug-in o have this
Plugin appear as installed but when in want to enable it
http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/xks2YMm.html
Ps
Now it is working âŚ
Today in the morning it was 4.001 âŚ
Double checking right now (after reading about 4.002) let me find this version.
Got no system prompt this time - but this doesnât matter, I guess - checking version in sytems menue does the trick.
OTA of V 4.002 worked again without any problem.
Reboot still works.
(HW) Config:
Pi5,
Raspi 2 Display (DSI),
BT remote &
Two rotary encoders on several GPIOs
Testing:
- Spotify plugin, works (my only use case).
- Touch display (and corresponding plugin) works
- Rotary encoders are working
- BT remote is working
- WiFi is working (can access from laptop / phone).
- âNow Playingâ plugin works
Great work, Iâm really impressed!
Regards,
Ralf
I have installed v4.002 but qobuz connect is n not available . This is normal ?
I use volumio mainly with qobuz connect
I have a premium subscription .
Thanks
Hey @Lintbf,
Thanks for your update, and glad to hear the Touch Display plugin is now working.
Regarding Qobuz Connect in version v4.002:
As clearly noted in the ALPHA changelog, Qobuz Connect is currently not available in the ALPHA builds. This applies to all current ALPHA versions, including the one youâre now using.
Why This Matters
The ALPHA channel is provided for testing the core system migration to Debian Bookworm. Not all MyVolumio services or premium features are guaranteed to be functional yet.
We strongly encourage all testers to read the thread and changelogs before reporting missing features or issues. This helps avoid duplication and keeps the thread focused on actionable feedback.
Kind Regards,
Hey @rkorell,
Thanks again for checking in with another detailed report - much appreciated!
Youâre absolutely right: v4.002 is now live, and your observation is spot on. Weâre currently focusing on testing and hardening our delivery infrastructure - this needs to be ironclad before we resume feature work or tackle remaining bugs. Your confirmation that OTA upgrades (even without system prompts) work flawlessly is exactly the kind of signal we need right now.
Your continued validation across:
- Pi5 with DSI Touch
- Bluetooth remote
- Rotary encoders
- Spotify + Now Playing plugins
- WiFi and network accessibility
âŚhelps ensure that our deployment backend remains stable across real-world configurations.
Kind Regards,
Hey @Marco_Pascucci,
Thanks for your feedback and for running V0.069 on your RPi4.
Letâs clarify the OTA situation:
If your device hostname is still set to the default volumio
, you will not receive ALPHA OTA updates.
This is intentional. Itâs not a bug or a delay - itâs a safeguard clearly explained in this thread and reiterated multiple times since.
Steps to receive the OTA (e.g., to v4.002):
- Go to Settings > Network
- Change the hostname (e.g.,
volumio-rpi4-yourname
) - Save and reboot
We cannot stress this enough:
Reading the ALPHA thread and following the release notes is not optional.
Itâs a basic expectation for participating in early testing and helps everyone avoid unnecessary confusion.
Regarding your Google Cast observation:
There were no Volumio-specific changes to that subsystem, but youâre likely benefiting from improvements in Bookwormâs base system - notably updated networking and mDNS/Avahi handling.
Glad to hear itâs working better.
Kind Regards,
Hi @nerd
OTA update from 4.001 to 4.002 successful.
Logs straight after:
http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/3BzxM8c.html
Pi4, USB Topping D10s DAC, RPi 7" Display
As before, screen fails to restart after update; does so after power cycle (suspected h/w issue).
All my usual music sources, plugins and base functions working correctly.
Cheers, Simon
Edit: ditto 4.003
Is there an instruction on how to connect (pair) BLE remote control?
All information and my attempts here:
Thanx.
Hey @VictorDUA,
Thanks for the detailed post and for testing Volumio on your Pi 4B.
At the moment, Volumioâs Bluetooth stack is intentionally limited to supporting high-quality A2DP audio playback only. This includes music streaming and audio metadata handling. All other Bluetooth profiles and devices - such as BLE remotes, or file transfer - are explicitly disabled to maintain bit-perfect, uninterrupted audio output. Support for additional Bluetooth functions would interfere with this goal.
Your BLE remote may connect easily to a general-purpose system like macOS, but Volumio is a dedicated audio OS, not a full desktop environment. Integrating BLE HID (Human Interface Device) support would require custom handling and system-level integration beyond a simple configuration change.
If this is an important feature for you, we suggest creating a Feature Request in the appropriate section of the forum, so it can be evaluated by the team and prioritized accordingly.
Kind Regards,
please see:
Thanx. I got it.
Hi, I wanted to ask if the internet radio stations will be available again or if that is not planned for the time being. Thank you very much.
