Peppy Meter Basic - The plugin!

You are not talking about peppy meter basic, the plugin, but about peppy meter an other non official plugin. The Ailsa path is different.
As I said, I don’t work anymore on this version of volumio 3.xx. if I do something, it will be for Volumio 4 xx

hello!
Peppymeter basic v1.0.8 for Volumio 4

  • Ok with DSD
  • Ok with Youtube
  • can’t work with software volume control

Enjoy!

@balbuze Thanks for updating the plugin…Unfortunately, it’s not working right.

  1. Despite setting to 0 seconds, the meter takes longer to come up.
  2. 96/24 FLAC gets choppy, if it even starts at all. Some start but no audio. Also shows as 44.1 on the DAC display.
  3. DSD did not work.

Here’s a log. I’ve tried with Hardware volume mixer as well as None. I can confirm it’s the plugin cuz issue 2 and 3 were resolved when I turned the plugin off [Log taken before I did this test].

EDIT: Uninstalled latest and went back with 1.0.7 and everything working as before.

Did you reboot after uninstall?
Edit: you can’t play DSD with FusionDsp enabled.

Yes…I did reboot.

DSD playback isn’t really the issue as it’s always been hit or miss for me. But the 96/24 error is something else.

well, I updated to v1.0.9.
There is some hardware dependent factors… It works with some DAC, and not so well with other…
Please test and feedback.

@balbuze Thank you!. I’ll check it out tonight!

Hi,
I have try but this error appaer

immagine

Ok it work!
I have to set over PCM:

and Mixer

Thanks for your effort

I forgot about getting it to 4.x. I’m on the latest 4.021. High bitrate PCM works now. DSD is being sent as DXD instead of direct DSD.

Helllo!
Thank for your test.
DXD is a specific format using PCM 24Bits/352,8 kHz. It seems a conversion occurs if your are using DSD file…
Not sure to fix it…
But who knows?

The usb audio driver in kernel version 6.12 does not support DSD for the McIntosh DA2 ootb, it needs a quirk for vendorid 0x2afd and productid 000b.
@Darmur ?

without knowing what kind of quirk is required for that specific DAC, it’s quite hard to add it with no hardware in hands

the generic one for the vendor id 0x2afd should be already in place, if it does not work it means a specific one is required

Hi, i love this plugin. But when i activate the plugin, somehow my Audiolab scale down the signal to 44khz. If i stop the plugin and restart, it play 96, 192 and 384khz again. Any thoughts on this?

Hello,
This issue should be fixed in v1.0.9 for Volumio 4 beta.
No plan for Volumio 3.xx

That was quick :grinning: Thanks for the answer balbuze. Really love the plugin. It suites my setup with tube amplifiers and Philips Aurea television very well. https://drive.google.com/file/d/17SB0Az135gUmkP9i1gv3Le3f3y6oTSpn/view?usp=sharing

@gkkpch It does work correctly when Peppy Meter is disabled.

Hi everyone, especially @balbuze balbuzie, who created this fantastic plugin. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to work because the vumeters for my screen resolution aren’t there. My screen is 1920x720. It would be nice to have one with this resolution. Could you please make them? That would be very kind of you. Bye.
