DEV: [PLUGIN] MPD_OLED for x86 based systems

What’s the same chip? I have MCP2221 and CH341. CP2112 is ordered :thinking::thinking:

@balbuze

Just tested it on the main branch for the rpi and it works.
Depending on the content of status.txt, it draws one of these screens.
0 = Full CAVA
1 = Default screen
2 = Clock
3 = Blank

I got my Wyse 3040 and it’s amazing! Bargain for £40 :clap:t4::clap:t4:

Hi ,

I am planning to add also a OLED screen to my dell wise . I have understood that i need an adapter , b but I see there are some different models based on Chip version . What version should I buy ?

Thanks

The Wyse 3040 also looks good.

I have a green heatsink “case” for my Pi4, and while I appreciate it being a fanless solution, I wouldn’t really want the Pi where I could see it in the living room!

I have been wondering about repurposing TV boxes, as these are cheap and look good (and the CH341 board might come in handy for reprogramming them). [EDIT: for example How to install Ubuntu onto $40 Android box - YouTube]

The ch341 adapter is worth getting as @Wheaten has managed to get it working :slight_smile:

CH341A is the same as CH341?
Thanks

The adapter that has been tested in this thread is the Dollatek adapter with a CH341A chip. There is information on the CH341 letter variants at USB Bridge Controller CH341 - NanjingQinhengMicroelectronics

My Dell Wyse 3040 in my hand! :muscle:t4::muscle:t4:

Looks good enough to have on display in your living room but also sturdy enough to shove it out of sight. Can also open the case, remove 2 screws and the whole thing could be shoved in an enclosure.

Just added a PCB with 4 push buttons. So I can select which layout by pushing one of them.

Then who needs rpi in that case …
If a hdmi wide monitor would exist, to be used with peppy meter
It exists .

@Wheaten I guess this will work with peppymeter no. I am planning to build another streamer and using my wise for that instead of rpi . Thx .

Yas and with the shortage in rpi’s these tiny x86 machines are a winner! There’s 2 display ports available so you could output to a wide HDMI monitor if you wanted too. The trouble is these wide displays are quite expensive :sleepy: The display should work fine - I don’t know about touch, can’t see a reason why it wouldn’t.

peppy meter and touch display won’t run (or even install). Full depending on arm libraries.

I expect that using a cheap Displayport 2 HDMI will do the trick and you can use a waveshare screen.
Not tested though, as I have no functionality to connect a monitor.

Yes , I have used my wise with such a adapter to connector to my tv .

When I boot my Wyse with a monitor plugged in to the DisplayPort I see the Volumio UI full screen. I bet this would also work with DP to HDMI converter. I’m not sure if a wide display would look good but I can confirm the UI is there on boot!

If you have a display with touch built in, it might be possible to get touch working over USB? I haven’t used touchscreen yet. I do have a touchscreen in a box (official pi) but have never used it.

Wide will look good with the latest beta. They’ve made changes to the Manifest UI.

Ooh very smart! I’ve dug out a 7 inch display with touch control over USB. I’ll try and get a display port to hdmi adapter so I can test this out.
