Hi Gé,
I opened issue #496

Thanks for your work on C1 / C2 builds.
Hi Gé,
I opened issue #496
github.com/volumio/Volumio2/issues/496.
Thanks for your work on C1 / C2 builds.
Does anyone know where I can download rc1 for the c2?
I’d like to see if that works any better with jriver as a renderer.
Thanks
Unfortunately, RC1 was deleted from my odroid repo two weeks ago, I have no way to reproduce these.
It would not have made any difference anyway, as nothing was changed in the kernel or rootfs between RC1 and RC2
Hi,
Just try RC2Fix on Odroid C2 w/ HifiShield (EMMC)
Everything is fine, working like a charm when wired (DHCP), reading songs from NAS.
Thanks to Gkkpch for the RC2 version, so the owners of C2 can enjoy Volumio.
Now i would like to push forward the system:
Anyway, thanks again
Hi youpilai,
thanks for the flowers, the output is still a little mystery to me, though I think I know what to change for activating the framebuffer.
It’s just that it has a fairly low priority.
It will be done as soon when we seriously start thinking about adding the VU touch screen plugins which were promised to hardkernel.
But this can take a while, release comes first.
As to your Edimax problem, the driver has not been added yet (there may be other ones missing too).
‘lsusb’ has been asked for before, could you both add as an issue on github.com/volumio2 as an issue so it does not get lost?
Thanks - Gé
Hi Gkkpch,
After googling and reading, it appears that you’re more precise than me.
I was able to enable the “showlogo” option in boot.ini, with respect to the choosen resolution, so it’s not a HDMI issue as i thought (the logo shows at boot, and stays) but only a matter of console redirection and framebuffer as you pointed out
Hello gkkpch,
I’ve your RC1 running on my C2 with XMOS X20 connected to a ES9018 DAC. It works fine.
Never the less I would like to try to connect directly the C2 I2S to the ES9018 DAC. I tried it as well on my old RPI 1b but it looked like there is a mismatch on I2S configuration.
Now, with the C2, I connected Data, LRCLK, BitCLK and GND. The DAC detects a correct 44.1KHz signal but there is no output on the DAC. When I switch to a Highres File the sampling rate swithes as well to the correct value. So it looks like Bitclock is fine, but data configuration isn’t o.k. or no data applied??!
I don’t have the choice to select I2S output at Volumio 2. Is it necessary to adapt this manually?
I tried : Playback option -> Output device: ODROIDHDMI and ODRIODDAC. But both seems to be wrong.
Is there a I2S implementation planned, or what is my mistake?
Thank you very much in advance.
Regards,
gymnote
i2s is already supported but there is only a driver / codec for the PCM5102 based HiFi shield.
There is no guarantee, that anything else is working, but it is not impossible.
At the beginning of the C1/C1+ I experimented with an ES9023 myself, which worked without any issues using the existing i2s driver supplied by HK.
This is the link to the guide I wrote: https://volumio.org/forum/odroid-with-i2s-dacs-like-audiophonics-es9023-t3379.html
We do not intend to supply any other drivers. In case HK, or someone else, does, then that would be great.
Gé
Hi Gé,
I had some spare time to try to install volumio2 on my C1. The first trials where not successful. But now it worked. My problem was probably that I resized the SD card after flashing it. My last trial was just flashing the SD card and then start up and it worked. The UI is very nice and there are some nice features. At the moment I am not able to check the sound quality, I will do this as soon as possible.
Thanks for the good work.
Tinitus
Hi Uwe, thanks for pointing that out, I might have a look at it, the initrd actually resizes on first boot. I don’t know what happens if you resize manually before that.
Gé
Hi Gé,
actually I did not only resize the SD card i also created another partion. If it had worked I could have stored music on there. Maybe it is just the thought of using a 16 GB SD for the OS only, since I rarely store anything on the SD card, I do not even use the eMMc I have for the C1. Cannot wait until I can check the sound quality of volumio2
Greetings
Uwe
OK, in that case you would have been on your own
Nothing to check in this case. hope you enjoy the new version.
The eMMC has a few advantages, The device comes up very early and boot profits from that.
I’m currently checking an issue with Hardkernel with mmcblk0. It seems to take a couple of seconds extra before being useful for booting.
And that adds to boot time compared to SD.
Gé
Hi,
I use the current version (VolumioRC2Fix-2016-07-31-odroidc2.img) on my odroid c2 with ES9023 DAC.
It works very fine - thanks for the development of this software.
The only thing I miss is the function of wlan.
I own the Odroid WIFI Module 4: http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G141630348024.
In the web gui there is already a switch for wlan.
But the stick is not recognized.
What do I have to do to get wlan access?
Regards
Hi odro,
In preparation of Volumio 2.0 release I have just finished a new kernel version for C2 and enabled all wifi drivers it supports.
Without promise (I don’t have one), it might be that it is recognized when you get the official Volumio 2.
If not, report back because then we have to ask Hardkernel where to get the driver from.
Gé, I’m ready to build… let me know when!
Is the release for C1+ ready to be build too ?
Yes!!
Just hold on for a little while longer, images are created as we speak.
meanwhile they both have been released
@odro : please check if your wireless dongle now works
wlan ist working with the new version - thanks !
Start with wlan takes a little long time (aprox. 1 minute) till network connection, but it does not matter for me.
One other thing ist the startup volume. It is always 0, irrespectively of what I adjust.
But I dont need volume control. So I switched it off (none).
Tried 2.002 on my C1+, works flawlessly, but it seems that I can’t install spotify plugin (freeze at 70%).
Nice work guys !
EDIT : spotify works fine, juste the progress bar and details window are freezing at 70%. Need to refresh the internet browser’s tab.
