Will hifiberry dac2 HD be compatible in the future

Volumio 3 Issues?
The Hifiberry DAC2 HD sounded so good before it became unusable this year. Is there any hope of seeing a fix for it this year?

The fix is not with Volumio but with Hifiberry.
Please post the output of:
cat /boot/config.txt

Try if adding dtparam=i2c_arm_baudrate=1000000 to /boot/userconfig.txt will solve the issues

Thanks, Iā€™ll try it.

I also have the same set up.
I have been using HiFiBerry DAC2 HD for over 3 years and now I find out that there is a compatibility issue.
So thats why it stoped wprking and I threw it in the garbage and bought a WiiM pro plus.
As far as I am concerned Volumio has reached the end of the line.

Hello Expert,

I fully agree with you, and after so many issues with Volumio/Hifiberry HD2 dac, I also decided to say ā€˜goodbyeā€™ to the DIY Volumio/Dacs.
Are you happy with the Wii pro plus (ā€œwhat hifiā€ magazine was very positive about it) ?

Iā€™m thinking of waiting for the Wii Ultra which will be released Q4 2024 (or Eversolo)

Best regards

Hi

Sad about Volumio but they failed to support their customers.

I was a great RPi advocate but without an effective Volumio Alternative, WiiM pro plus fills the void.

It works well, no issues, straight out of the box.

It is the new generation, with no dependency on flakey 3rd party software.

Bonne chance.

For HIFFIBERRY DAC2 HD, this is not a failure on the part of Volumioā€¦

probably a good HW. But you donā€™t use your DACā€¦ No complain about this?

yes, but if the manufacturer stop support or adding featuresā€¦

Bonne chance too! And you are still welcome

Installed the Wiim Ultra. Great sound (better than Hifiberry Dac 2HD or Boss Allo with linear power supply). Even a child can install the Wiim Ultra - itā€™s so easy. It was a nice time with Volumio - but much less ā€˜niceā€™ this year - too many issues. Bye-bye Hifiberry and Volumio

Facts:

WiiM is closed hardware and works OOTB, however Volumio Motivo is superior in every and each way (my personal opinion for that matter).
When comparing apples with pears please take into the consideration that Volumio devs are working on bringing latest kernel and build solving issues with and beyond HiFiBerry DAC2 HD. Perhaps engaging with testing will produce better outcome:

A bit sour to read that people start to compare a DYI open source distribution, with multiple SBCā€™s and even more combinations of HATā€™s and DACS to a item with fixed HW, which can be precise tailored.
If you want to compare WiiM to Volumio, do this versus a Primo, Rivo, Motivo or Integro.
