Volumio2 equalizer plugin

After several attempts it worked. I only heard “frying”, in short, mystery, now it works correctly.
It is much more sensitive than the previous one, more precise, you have to handle it with care, just a touch.
Does the general volume have any degree of attenuation? I get the impression that it is something lower than without equalizer
Good job!
Regards

Daniel

yep, I had the frying sound… Don’t why…
I made a change in the range of sliders. Instead of being 0/100 step 5 it’s now 30/70 step 1. Really better to use.
I redefine default preset but they are not very good… If you have better value…

edit : small update to get the good UI… (ver 0.3.2)

The initial volume is very low. Follow with frying, I disable it and enable again and sometimes it works.
Like something was damaged in my SD, I have to burn again.
Return to 0.2.1

Hello balbuze, I’m having a lot of problems with the latest versions of Volumio, which is to your knowledge the safest combination of Volumio + volsimpleequal versions? Where download them?

Daniel

I’m having issues as well - the frying sound and/or no sound. It doesn’t seem to work at all with Spotify for instance. I’d dearly love to see this up and running - I’m trying to EQ my little micca speakers to approximate the parametric DSP correction file that flattens their curve. Now that would be cool…a parametric EQ! But hey, I’d settle for this current equalizer working. keep up the great work!!

hi!
I tested with the Spotify “official” plugin and it just works… You have to re save your credentials after the equalizer installation in order to regenerate /etc/spopd.conf
For the frying sound, I would say I’m stuck… I tried tons of parameters / setting / seaching the web… And still no solution.
It seems a initialisation problem as most of the time when you stop and restart playing a frying track, it works.
I’m afraid it’s inherent to mbeq…
Help welcome !

Hello balbuze, can you pass me the simpleequal version just before implementing the preset? Thank you!

Hi Daniel !
As I can’t get something stable with mbeq (15 bands eq using FFT) I reverted to alsaequal… waiting for a fix…
Of course, I kept all improvement done, 3 custom preset and miscellanious things.
Let me know if you experience problem…

The first test was successful. It seems to work correctly.
Regards!

seems to work for me too. Thanks so much!

hi @ balbuze,

latest version of this plugin, work me too on rpi3 + allo boss. But with same iam getting problem with rpi zero w + mini boss. Without this plugin everything works great. showing error no display on UI after restarting on installation. Showing Err_connection_reset

Please help.

Hello Balbuze, there is no way, I can not get it to work again. I have two SD, one with 2,246 and another with the latest version of Volumio.
With 2.246 it works the first time and when restarting there is no sound.
With the latest version of Volumio, the first time has low volume and when restarting there is no sound, I do not remember any other problem.
As a data to please, when it works it sounds great!
If I can help you with a report, you tell me.
Regards

Hummm
weird…
I made no change in this part of the plugin that manages the output… I have to make some test as it works on my rpi2 + i2c dac… and pine64 + usb dac.

I use Rasp3 + Allo Boss.
If you tell me how, I can capture the state of the system at different times of operation.
Will not get along with the autoplay plugin? I tried disabling it and it does not work either, but …

when does it stop working for you ?
I have a allo boss player , I can test but not tonight!
in playback option can you see “allo boss dac through equalizer plugin” ( or something similar ?)

Yes I Can see.

In Volumio 2.33 the first time the volume is 20% less, then, no sound.

@danielfelix
I installed volsimpleequal 0.3.8 on the boss player (rpi3 + allo boss dac) and it works.
Reboot and it works.
Update to volumio 02.323
Reboot and it works…

Try to disable the plugin, reconfigure your dac, reboot, test a track, enbale the plugin, test a track… reboot.

For rpi0 or b, I solved the loop, but still no sound after reboot… Investigating.

With Volumio 2.324, it works only the first time. I use a web radio.
The second time 3 start attempts, the warning sound is heard, and there is no sound. But … I stop seeing the Library! I do not see my music
Excuse me Balbuze, I look silly, you have to believe me that although I do not know much about Rasp, I have extensive experience in electronics and computers, I’m embarrassed to have to bother you for seemingly ridiculous things.

Regards

Daniel

I do believe you! What I want to say is that I can’t reproduce it now. But there’s something in the way the plugin configure the output that is not stable enough. I’m working to change this and improve the stability. For info, some timer are used to order instructions for configure the plugin and volumio. But depending on the hardware (RPI 2, rpi3 RPI 0) and DAC, order is not always correct and then misconfigure the system…

Hello Balbuze, today I do not work so I have time , with the latest version of Volumio 2.338, simpleequal 0.3.8 works on almost everything (almost).
I detail what I see wrong:

  • It apparently starts at the last used volume level, not the default one. In the panel it indicates the default but surely it is not this one. With mpc I see volume: 82% with whichever volume is selected. I can not adjust mpc volume xx either

-The Autoplay plugin does not work, very suggestive.
