Hi guys, I installed the new Volume v4.071 on the Raspberry PI4 4 GB as expected without any problems.
However, when I started configuring it, a problem arose with the Wi-Fi part.
Let me explain: I connected the Raspberry PI4 4 GB with a LAN cable, logged into Volume and configured the Wi-Fi network access as I had done with previous versions. I set a static IP address, configured all the required parameters, and selected the Wi-Fi network, including the password.
When I exited the configuration, I saved everything and disconnected the LAN to connect with Wi-Fi. To my surprise, the connection was not established.
I repeated all the steps several times and noticed that when it sent me the Wi-Fi network connected message and I went back to the network, the password was missing⦠it was as if it had been deleted during the saving process.
I tried redoing the entire procedure several times, even changing browsers, with no success⦠the only connection was via LAN.
To make sure my router, Raspberry Pi, SD card, etc. were working properly, I downloaded the previous version I use regularly, and the Wi-Fi connection is working fine.
Can you help me? Is there a bug in the new software?
Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.
Some additional information @nerd @volumio
I have now done atleast ten restarts and also unplugged and plugged in my psu a couple of times and wifi starts up every time without any problems at all. Thanks @nerd , Wifi gave me headache erlier.
Best Regards / C

I have the exact same problem. Iām also experiencing audio dropouts in songs, and the MPD OLED plugin has stopped working as well. It only works again when I temporarily disable it and then re-enable it after a few seconds. What was the version prior to 4.0.7.1? Iām using a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and an iQAudio Pro+ DAC. Oh! The DSPFusion plugin is also clipping on the input signal and I canāt get it to work like it used to. If anyone else has these problems, could you please tell me where I can download the previous version?

Please disable multiroom, restart and test again.
If it works enable multiroom again and test
Iām having issues with consistent and reliable functionality (after thinking my R Pi 3B+ was working well).
I restarted Volumio 4.071 this morning after it failed to play a web radio station (the interface responds in the app, but the selected web radio station never starts playing).
After the restart, the behaviour is the same.
Here is a live log started just before I used the web interface to choose SOMA FM 80s Underground web radio station, it does not look like it is starting to play, and it does not play. It looks like MPD is having some sort of issue.

Hey @nerd @balbuze or other developers out there!
Just a suggestion!
Could we possibly have Shelf EQ Filters with graphic interface OR a way to control the tilt or slope of the frequency response. The usual 0dB flat response may be gently tilted up or down
about a perceptually user chosen middle frequency. Something like Quad preamps or as can be found in some vst plugins out thereā¦
That would be very helpful
I guess this will need a new plugin to be created or maybe it can be integrated in FusionDSP?
Best Regards / Claes
Is there some sort of release info? For example from 4.071 to 4.072? Thanx.
I am using RPI 4b, ethernet connection.
Since upgraded to versioin 4, the player has not been able to play songs continuously. Most of the time, it will not be able to start, keep having the loading page. It will also keep restarting.
I am on Premium plan.
Now I cannot use this at all.

Hey @Phang_Francis,
There was a known TIDAL authentication issue affecting all Volumio versions through early November 2025. TIDAL changed their OAuth token validity window from 24 hours to 1 hour, which caused playback failures, loading issues, and inability to stream. This was fixed in version 4.069 (released November 14, 2025) for Volumio 4 and version 3.874 for Volumio 3.
Your description of āloading pageā and inability to start playback matches this issue exactly.
However, I cannot proceed without critical information:
First, what is your exact Volumio version number? You said āversion 4ā but I need the specific number (example: 4.067, 4.069, 4.071). Check this in Settings - System - System Version. If you are on 4.067 or earlier, update immediately - your problem should resolve.
Second, what do you mean by ākeep restartingā? Does the playback stop and restart, or does the entire Raspberry Pi reboot (screen goes black, startup sound plays, system comes back up)? These are completely different problems with different causes.
Third, submit a log link from http://your-volumio-ip/dev when the problem occurs. The JSON status you provided shows a stopped TIDAL track but contains no diagnostic information.
Fourth, provide your storage type (SD card brand and model, or SSD/USB if applicable) and power supply specifications (voltage, amperage, brand).
If your system is physically rebooting rather than just playback stopping, this points to power supply insufficiency, SD card failure, or hardware issues - not the TIDAL authentication problem.
Update to 4.073 if you have not already, then report back whether the problem persists.
Kind Regards,
Hey @pwstereo,
Thanks for the detailed live log - it clearly shows the failure pattern:
- MPD Monitor detects inactivity and attempts restart
- MPD fails to stop gracefully (SIGTERM timeout)
- Systemd forces termination (SIGKILL, status=9)
- Connection resets (ECONNRESET)
- Backend assertion failures (assert.ok self.idling)
However, the submitted log link (P0VulEd.html) was captured immediately after boot, before reproducing the problem. It shows clean startup state but no evidence of the actual failure.
To investigate properly, I need a log that captures the failure state:
- Cold boot (power cycle, not restart)
- Wait 5 minutes for system to settle
- Attempt to play SOMA FM 80s Underground
- Wait for failure to occur (or confirm it fails)
- Play local track
- Attempt to play SOMA FM 80s Underground
- Wait for failure to occur (or confirm it fails)
- Submit log immediately via http://volumio.local/dev
Also need to establish baseline:
- Does local file playback from USB work? (your WD Passport is mounted)
- Did webradio work previously on this installation?
- Fresh install of 4.071 or OTA update from earlier version?
- Does the problem occur with other webradio stations or only SOMA FM?
Kind Regards,
I am a longtime Volumio 3 user/subscriber and downloaded Volumio 4.072 for a āspinā. It wonāt install/boot when flashed to the emmc of a CM5 or the SD card of a CM4. Wifi or lan doesnāt make any difference. I thought Iād share and see if this is a known issue or just user error.
Hey @mogelsvs,
Welcome to Volumio.
For me to understand what is happening, I need exact details of your flashing procedure. Please walk me through each step you performed, no detail too small.
Hardware identification
For the CM5 - what is the exact module variant? Check the label on the module itself - is it CM5 Lite or CM5 with eMMC, and what RAM and storage capacity is printed there? What IO board or carrier board are you using? Same questions for the CM4.
Download procedure
Where did you get the Volumio image from (exact URL or navigation path), and what was the exact filename of the downloaded file? Did you extract or unzip the downloaded file before flashing, or did you flash it as downloaded?
Flashing procedure
What software did you use (Raspberry Pi Imager, balenaEtcher, something else)? If Raspberry Pi Imager, did you use any OS customization settings such as hostname, SSH, or WiFi configuration? What target device did you select when flashing? For eMMC modules specifically, did you use the rpiboot/usbboot procedure, and if so, what jumper configuration?
Boot attempt
What happens when you apply power - any LED activity at all? Is there any display output, even briefly? How long did you wait before concluding it does not boot?
I run all CM4 and CM5 variants without issues, so this is solvable once I understand your exact process.
Kind Regards,
Just checking ⦠did you unzip the image before flashing?
@SimonE I did not unzip before flashing ⦠Something to try later this morning.
@nerd Thanks for the reply. I can get those details to you when I get back home. I used the RPI Imager and the image off the Volumio website. Both CM4 and CM5 have been running Volumio 3 for a long time.
Anyway, seems I need to try unzipping first ![]()
Yes unzip the file and flash the *.img file
Update:
Using the unzipped file did the trick and 4.073 is now playing on this setup:
Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5, Wireless, 2GB RAM, 16GB eMMC (CM5102016) and Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 IO Board.
The Touch Display/Now Playing plugins worked with my Roadom 10.1" touch screen without any additional configuration. Yay!
Importantly, to me, the Jcat Femto USB card continues to work via the PCIe. I did remove this for the flash but donāt know if it were truly necessary.
Thanks for the hints and help.
