any links for 3.908 image for pc and rpi?
I do not agree, at all, on this. In fact, I think v3 downloads should be still offered on main site with a note. Latest v3 image should be offered somewhere, here or any other place, for older devices as long as it is still updated. So if v3 downloads arent on main site, this thread could be a side mirror. Donāt know why it bothers you or anyone elseā¦
Volumio has moved to Bookworm, with a grace period still in place for Buster.
You can still download Volumio v3 from this topic and then use OTA updates to reach the latest test releases. (no more stable releases)
Test releases have never been offered as main downloads.
Ok, understood, youāre the moderator and I fully respect the projectās direction and decisions. I still personally believe it would be helpful to keep the last stable v3 images (like 3.908 or the final one) linked somewhere, be it here or on a footnote on download page even with a strong note saying ālegacy versionā.
This would mainly support users with older PCs or RPis (e.g., Pi 1/Zero) that struggle with the new version, without encouraging anyone to stay on v3 long-term. But I completely get the focus on moving forward to the current branch and saving resources.
Thanks for the explanation and for keeping things clear.
Where did you get this from? I donāt like people just starting rumours, why would someone with an older PC need to stick to Version 3? In case youāre an expert on this, please give us an example.
Sorry, no rumors or drama intended. First sorry for my confusion, I tought i386 was supported on v3 when in fact itās not, so itās not dropped on v4 as it was never supported on v3.
Nevertheless, I just think itās a good practice to have a history/archive links for older versions just in case, as v3 keeps releasing with bugfixes. Canāt see the negatives of having access to latest stable v3 images for as long as you are making them. Donāt want to offend anyone, nor get banned, and definitely donāt want to complicate anyone or Volumio development.
Thanks for the correction, appreciated.
The thought is not new, it has been done for Community āPortingsā, this is just an example:
You will find more examples in that section.
So, I would second your proposal but ONLY for official released versions.
Maybe an archive thread with the last two or three.
I see posts which publish beta download links, which (in my opinion) is totally wrong.
These betas should only be used when devs are asking for testing a fix.
Some could potentially not work so these should never be public download links, be it v3 or v4, it just causes unwanted support issues.
Again, my opinion.
Absolutely agree that beta or test releases shouldnt be offered.
Im only interested in latest stable releases, and to have the links for testing/archival purposes. Im sure im not the only one who is interested. Well, hope the idea sounds ok. Thanks for understanding me.
Welcome @a_Reggelt_Szeretem
and what did you want to achieve with this post
?
The current x86 download link is always in the official download page and the latest tinkerboard link you will find in the Asus thread.
In case the tinkerboard thread is not up-to-date (it happens sometimes), just use the latest one mentioned and OTA afterwards ![]()
Yeah, I am going to close this topic.
