Volumio 3 Beta test: Raspberry Pi with kernel 6.6

Pi 3, Highberry DAC HAT, could be coincidence, but it appears my amp turn-on-when-playing stopped working exactly when I did an OTA update to the latest version offered (3.758).

Moved to a different GPIO pin, no change.
Installed GPIO Control plug-in to try, not working either.

AmpSwitch lists as “inactive” regardless of being on or off, turns itself back on eventually even after I turn it off, and refuses to uninstall. GPIO Control installs and uninstalls just fine, toggles between “active” and “inactive” as expected.

Trying to avoid a full re-install from scratch, so thought I’d check first to see if anyone else has this issue.

Thanks!

It is a beta test version so you have enabled test versions (?), so report your findings in the related thread.

Thanks for the response, don’t remember turning on test mode but must have, looks like this thread’s been moved to the right spot.

Cheers!

Yes I did.
Please look at the opening post, what has been tested and which passed or failed (due to change in addressing GPIO).
Feel free to run test and report back. It will be very much appreciated.

Dear Beta Testers, I am trying to get Volumio running on one of these new Raspberry Pi 5 2 GB SBCs. If I understand correctly, the 3.758 image linked above is supposed to be bootable on this Pi, but it does not work for me. The Pi is fine, it runs multiple other images without issues, the SD cards is also fine (tested with h2testw). Tried flashing the image multiple times with multiple tools, but no dice. What am I missing here?

Hey @FDanee,

Can you kindly detail tools you use and every step please? Do not skip any action taken however small it may be.

Kind Regards,

I repeated the previous steps again to have it documented properly, but this time it produced an SD card that boots fine. My conclusion is that the root cause of the issue was located between my chair and my monitor…

Now that it is working, let me add some feedback.

4 posts were split to a new topic: RPi 3b with a Pi2design 502DAC for the AES dead

Just submitted RemotePi 3.2.2 which should work with kernel 6.6.

Edit: I just resubmitted the plugin because I forgot to include revised language files on the first run…

Thanks @gvolt .
As soon as we have confirmed testing, I will update the opening post.

I was unable to use Hardware mixer on my HiFiBerry DAC2 Pro when I had the matching I2S DAC2 Pro selected. Switching I2S to DAC+ Pro allowed me to select hardware mixing.

Interesting! @Wheaten might this be a similar issue as my pi2design 502dac as discussed above? Would love to bring it back to life…

Can’t confirm. You stated that you’re running 3.757, which runs the 6.1 kernel. You might give V3.758 k6.6 (this beta) a try.

Random crashes. Player stops working and comes back with the start up sound. But then requires reboot for the DLNA to be recognized. This happens at least once a session from an hour to six.

@Danager

You’re running a beta test version for K6.6 (VOLUMIO_VERSION="3.758").
Do you have the same issues with the latest stable release (V3.757) ?

Yes this has been going on for over a year. I previously submitted an issue and it was believed it was being caused by the library. (over 3TB). I changed to using only as a DLNA endpoint but I still have the same issue.

Hey @Danager,

When you say “crashes” can you elaborate? Is it reboot? UI restart/reload?

Kind Regards,
