Running also a rPi4 here with an Hifiberry DAC2, rev1.4
With V3.735:
On reboot, Mixer shows undefined, when selecting Hardware, the output volume is not responding.

Can hifiberry device parse init?

Dear Volumionauts,

If you can not wait for the development release cycle and need your HIFIBerry DAC2 HD working yesterday update your device as follows:

Comment out dtparam=i2c_arm=on in the /boot/volumioconfig.txt; Below is only example how it should look like:

what do I mean? did you remove the card from the PI4?
sudo i2cdetect -a 1 when I receive the ELSA error the i2c card is always detected

after editing the files, it worked fine
on the first reboot, it worked fine
on the second reboot, ALSA error

Hey @Itolo,

Rebooted Raspberry Pi 4B 99 times already and DAC simply works. Pretty conclusive.

Why your device behaves differently?

The bootloader version I have is 2024/04/17; whilst yours 2020/04/16. A lot of happened in the Raspberry Pi world for the past four years. Taking that kernel 6.1 is barely over a year old, it is hard to believe that the folks at Raspberry are using a better “crystal ball” to see the future. I would start with upgrading eeprom.
