I wanted to test a Matrix X-SPDIF2 DDC between my Volumio Rivo and Schiit Yggdrasil. But the Matrix is not recognized by the Rivo, I am not able to select USB, spdif and aes are only showing as available selections. Is that some kind of compatibility issue or is Rivo just picky when connecting to usb devices (a DDC acts as any USB dac, same setup is working with no issue with other streamers with USB-dac connction)
That depends, there is no list of supported usb dacs anywhere in the kernel.
Linux has a standard driver for all usb devices, the snd-usb-audio driver, either as class UAC 1.0/2.0/3.0 device.
Volumio kernel(s) only differ in the way it supports DSD support in addition to the ones already present in the audio driver.
So if the USB device is not showing up, only a log can help to tell what is blocking the device
Please post a log.
Power the device, without the DAC connected. Once the unit is up and running connect the DAC and generate a log.
