Tidal Connect Failures

@Marco_Melziade is it really purely an issue with Tidal though? I do not know how to read logs but asking Gemini to look through it, it has highlighted things like attempts to connect via USB to my DAC when that Playback Option was not selected (or the DAC on for that matter). Doesn’t that point to an issue with the Rivo+ instead?

Forget Gemini please for these complex questions. AI works well sometimes but don‘t rely on it as an oracle. It does spit out totally wrong and unfunded suggestions at many occasions.

Alright… i’ll trust the experts here :slightly_smiling_face:

The current issue is that continuous play has stopped after a few tracks

A “server error” pop up appears in the desktop Tidal App but it has not bounced me out of the Rivo+… yet.

Today, it has begun to disconnect again… http://logs.volumio.org/rivoplus/MfWh3kZ.html

Hi,
The dev team is working on a new tidal build update tomorrow so please be patience and thanks for the collaboration.
Best regards,
Marco Volumio

Hi,
we completely understand your frustration and we’re actively pushing TIDAL to resolve this.

They have already provided us with three new software versions, but unfortunately the issue until today has not been resolved yet.

We are with you there and are doing the most we can to get this sorted

Best regards,
Marco Volumio

@GSiguy Can you try 3.908?

I am on 3.908. I am still having issues especially right now, which is evening time where I am. Tidal Connect continues to have javascript and server errors.

And it now takes me multiple refreshes of the “dev” page to even generate a log. Finally managed to… http://logs.volumio.org/rivoplus/LCvoTE1.html

It has been virtually unplayable on Tidal Connect for the last 2 hours.

Is it possible that you had internet issues in those two hours? Is this still happening?

Not sure. I didn’t have any issues for other devices like my phone or laptop.

Did the logs suggest it was a connectivity issue?

I’ll check again when I am back in my country. I am currently travelling. I’ll update you.

The second log shows mainly connectivity issues, no sign of the original issue (401 thing).

I just got back from being out of the country for a week and the disconnects from Tidal App is happening again.

Thank you for attaching the screenshots, I can tell this is not an issue with Volumio anymore, but with the Tidal desktop app. Please contact Tidal support directly.

These are the exact same javascript errors right from the start and you never said anything about it being a Tidal desktop app issue. So can you explain to me why this is now a Tidal desktop issue?

And even if i contact Tidal what am I supposed to show them?

The Tidal SDK we include in Volumio is a black box for us, we don’t know what’s in there and what changes they might be making.

From the log files you provided I could initially see that the error we were discussing with them showed up. The latest logs show no sign of the original issue and we have verified internally that it’s working as intended with that regards.

I’ll get in touch with them about your issues again and see what they have to say.

Thank you for checking with them again. I look forward to hearing what their comments are.

Hi!

Is there an issue with Tidal Connect and combining 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands into a single SSID?

I’ve noticed my Volumio 4 Pi dissappears from view on Tidal mobile and desktop apps on a network where I’m using this feature, but never on another Pi connected to an access point where I keep the bands separate.

When the device isn’t visible to Tidal apps, I have to access Volumio through the native mobile app or ip address (as the volumio.local name doesn’t always work), go to Sources, and disable/enable Tidal connect to refresh the service. It then appears on my apps and allows me to use the feature. The device will then disappear again after a few minutes - 3, perhaps - even while I’m playing a queue, album, or playlist initialized through Tidal Connect.

Please help.

Do you think this could be an issue with Volumio 4, with how the Pi 4b handles band steering, or with the network nodes themselves (modems, access points)?

@Marco_Melziade @Darmur @nerd @devgianlu

Any takers? I’ve been researching on this and it seems there may be indeed issues with the 4B’s (and the 5’s) behaviour on dual band, single SSID networks and band steering.
