Have a newbie question if anyone can assist me please.
I have a the following nvme pcie board on a raspberry pi 5:
I have installed a 500gb kingston nvme nv2 and would want to use this for storage only. The drive is brand new / unpartitioned. From what I can tell the drive is seen by volumio in system settings at it shows the option to install volumio on the nvme. However my use case would be to use the nvme only for storage. If anyone has a similar setup and can share the steps to have this done, I would greatly appreciate it.
Right now, the NVMe is considered as Volumio-OS system target storage, not a data storage. We have use of NVMe as a data storage on our roadmap, however quite far down in terms of priorities.
You can still create an ext4 partition and mount manually under /data/INTERNAL/
@nerd, thanks so much for the quick reply and support with this.
One last quick question if you don’t mind please. If I install volumio on the nvme. Can I revert back this action in future to boot from sd card? If so, can you share please how this can be done.
Also If booting from the nvme, can I use the sd card slot for storage?
Many thanks again for taking the time to respond and helping out,
Luis
May not be what you want but I just got a cheap nvme enclosure with heat sync and just plug into the pi via USB. More than fine for storage (got a 2tb). Things can get hot inside pi.
Through the terminal I can see that the disk is reporting correctly.
What should I do to make it visible when I want to rip CD Audio to disk?
I only see internal memory.
