Update: It is working again. :stuck_out_tongue:

Is Spotify somehow defeated librespot’s latest workaround? Having trouble using Spotify Connect today. In the app it shows connected to Volumio, but when I play something, there’s no sound and it will disconnect. It seems like the plugin got restarted because volspotconnect2 reset the volume back to 30% everytime I try to reconnect.

I have been using volspotconnect for a while now and find it awesome! Using version 1.5.6. The only functionality that would be even better is being able to control the volume. I’m wondering whether that is possible in volspotconnect2 or a later version of volspotconnect?

Little anxious to upgrade, reading all the issues here. It’s working like a breeze now :wink:

Volspotconnect use the alsa mixer of your device if any. It means you have to set correctly volumio to use it.
Volspotconnect 2 use an internal volume mixer. It means you can set the volume from Spotify app even if volumio don’t use a volume mixer.

Edit: Btw just curious. What are the differences between the two plugins (except for the volume control) and advantages of volspotconnect2? Why would you maintain 2 of them?

I have two things in mind …

  1. My daughter likes playing radio-play on Spotify but I noticed that volspotconnect2 doesn’t play the tracks seamless. This is a bit annoying because some stories have a lot of short tracks and with each new track a new gap. Can this be solved?

  2. Is there a way to set the volume to a maximum in Volumio using volspotconnect2? I always need to adjust the volume after connection to Volumio. I only adjust the volume for playback on my stereo receiver and need to set the volume on Volumio to maximum for best audio resolution.

Librespot used in volspotconnect2 does not support all spotify features. I suggest you to try with volspotconnect… But don’t know if it helps for your case.

The lower used bitrate (160Kbit?) prevents me from using this version of volspotconnect. Or is it now using the full bitrate?
