good ! let me know for the shared device !
Where do I find this file?
Which file ?
If you want the plugin https://github.com/balbuze/volumio-plugins/raw/master/plugins/music_service/volspotconnect/volspotconnect.zip
Uninstalling plugin on rpi2 did not remove volspotconnect plugin directories!
Therefor I Installed a fresh Volumio 2 with your latest volspotconnect.zip plugin.
No sharing! but -s is there!
Maybe you need to do some avahi/zeroconf coding to make it work?
You refer to an “avahi-publish-service” file in your template…it is in /usr/bin…does the “volumio” user has rights there
When i paste “avahi-publish-service -s ‘Volumio’ _spotify-connect._tcp 4000 VERSION=1.0 CPath=/login/_zeroconf”
in SSH then it works!
Ok. Thanks for your investigation ! I can’t test now. Do you use sudo in ssh to launch avahi ?
It could be a access rights problem.
nope just “avahi-publish-service -s ‘Volumio’ _spotify-connect._tcp 4000 VERSION=1.0 CPath=/login/_zeroconf”
I use winscp–>ssh
You can also test with a non-premium user…you will see the connect speaker in the phone/tablet spotify app, but with the message: only premium-users. but then you will know it works
OK thank for the tip. Because it was a problem for me to test as I have a premium account (with family option)
I think in Volumio 2 the default “Volumio” user has not the same rights as the “root” user in Volumio 1.55 did.
Maybe both the volspotconnect plugin uninstaller and the avahi service is lacking of correct user rights?
Well, I made some test. I created a new Spotify free account to test device sharing.
And I installed the plugin from yesterday on 4 Volumio devices :
2 RPI 2 (armv7)
1 RPI B+ (armv6)
1 Allo Spraky sbc (armv7)
And in each case it works outof the box, with my premium account and family
, but also with the free account I can see all devices (but not use it of course)
So I don’t see why this is not the case for you…
Hi
I’m not sure if this will help the long discussion, but I’ve been struggling some hours to get the plugin to work on my Volumio Pi model A with HifiBerry DAC, and found one problem.
In order to have the “normal” Spotify plugin working, I had the mixer set to “none” (otherwise no sound comes out). However this created an error with the Connect plugin, because the scripts assume that there will always be a mixer name. After changing the mixer to “Software”, the Connect plugin works, but of course not the Spotify plugin.
So if it’s possible to make the Connect plugin work with a “None-mixer”, that would be great. (As it would also be if the Spotify plugin worked with a Software mixer)
I can’t check now but this is something that should work. Do you have a recent version of the plugin?
Now volumio and spotify can do what they are meant for: share music with your friends… ![]()
Work like a charm!
@akbo
I made some test and you are right, something is wrong when mixer is set to “none”.
I’m having a look to solve this. It use to work…
Had some troubles in previous versions, but this one… epic! Nice work!
good!
please could you detail your config (device, dac, mixer type, volumio version, plugin version )
thanks!
Just curious, on which quality would this plugin stream the music?
Sure,
Working with an rPiB+ with HifiBerry Digi running Volumio 2.031.
Will be testing my rPi2B with HifiBerry Digi soon ![]()
The plugin version is 1.4.4 and mixer type is software. I did a reinstall of the plugin (using the rm -RF command after UI uninstall) and left everying to default.
you can select high quality bitrate=320 or low bitrate=90
