Using Volumio on a Raspberry Pi 5 w/audio hat as the main source of music for my player grand piano as the built-in interface is utterly horrible and my library far too extensive.
Volumio is now reasonably classifying my library but I’ve noticed a quirk with the “Related Artists” feature.
Much of the library is sourced from MIDI files and I have a particularly rich collection of “classical” music. Excepting a few composers with ambiguous names I include only the composer’s family name as the “AlbumArtist” in their respective dedicated folders. Volumio recognizes these composers as it displays their images.
The “Related Artists” however are titled such as “Franz Liszt” and “Manuel de Falla.” When I click on them I get a red “No Results” warning alert despite having literally hundreds of songs in the artist group “Liszt” and many in “de Falla”
I was under the belief that Volumio uses MusicBrainz.org for this sort of information but the above naming is contrary to the MusicBrainz standard that finds “Liszt, Franz” and “de Falla, Manuel” as the proper naming.
Where is Volumio getting this information?
My metadata is scrupulously scrubbed of Unicode as it is so incompatible with my player as to potentially cause hardware damage requiring the entire control unit to be replaced!
Also I have no streaming service because none is compatible with my player PianoForce Performer hardware. There are “radio stations” but I have more (and often higher quality content) than any of them.
