OK, just tried that and Volumio restarted, no results shown - so not working for me.
can you try once mor. Had the same on the first search, afterwards it worked like a charm.
Twice more, crashed each time.
thanks for the confirmation.
For those interested in the Pandora plugin, it has been migrated and tested on 4.0.13 - see below:
Regards,
Mine crashes everytime as well.
Hey @Wheaten, @SimonE, @jocoman,
Thank you all for testing and reporting.
Iâve reviewed the backend repositories and can confirm that the PR containing the fix for the webradio search crash was not included in the 4.013 build. Despite the version including the prototype behavior (displaying partial results before crashing), the actual patch is still pending merge.
This explains the observed behavior:
- First search causing a crash for some users (@SimonE confirmed reproducible).
- Inconsistent stability afterwards (@Wheaten experienced recovery on repeat searches).
I will follow up and press for the fix to be merged so we can properly verify resolution in the next build.
Kind Regards,
Community Notice: Clarifying Volumio Versions
Weâve seen increasing confusion across threads when users refer to âthe latest betaâ or version numbers like 4.010, 4.012, etc., without specifying which Volumio version they are actually using.
To clarify:
1. Volumio 3.xxx is based on Debian Buster
- This is the stable, legacy platform.
- Volumio 3 will remain on version 3.xxx.
- There are no beta versions or upgrades to 4.xxx on Buster.
2. Volumio 4.xxx is based on Debian Bookworm
- This is the current beta platform under active development.
- Version numbers starting with 4.xxx are exclusively Bookworm-based.
- These versions are part of the Bookworm BETA, not general OTA updates.
Why this matters:
- Reporting bugs or behaviors without clarifying which platform youâre on wastes time, causes misdiagnoses, and misleads others.
- Troubleshooting steps and plugin compatibility often depend on whether you are using Buster or Bookworm.
What you must do when posting in all other threads:
-
Always state clearly whether you are using Volumio 3 (Buster) or Volumio 4 (Bookworm).
-
If youâre on Volumio 4.xxx, say so explicitly:
- Example: âRunning Volumio 4.012 (Bookworm Beta) on Raspberry Pi 4â
-
Link to the Bookworm BETA thread if relevant:
https://community.volumio.com/t/public-beta-test-audio-without-compromise-refining-the-future-of-volumio-on-bookworm/72576/
This clarity helps the team, plugin developers, and fellow users respond accurately and prevents unnecessary confusion.
We kindly ask all community members to follow this format moving forward.
Kind Regards,
Hello!
V4.0.13 RPI5
Software volume mixer is restored 100% each reboot despite of a startup volume set to 20.
http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/TdMAeeR.html
Cannot confirm software volume mixer issue.
After rebooot still at startup volume (16%).
V4.013 (Bookworm), Pi5.
If useful: log.
Regards,
Ralf
It is working for me (RPi 3B, 4.0.13 with Innomaker DAC, if that matters).
I had it set to software volume mixer at 60% startup and it stayed at 60% after reboot.
Regards,
Hello.
I have two rpi5 8Gb 4013 setups, both are crashing during webradio playback. It didnât crash with the previous beta versions. It happens after about one or two playback hours.
One rpi5 with a nvme and a touch display connected to a Topping E50.
This one crashes and looses its wireless settings. Wifi reconfiguration after reboot is needed. Touch display is frozen.
The other with 128 msd card and connected to a Topping D10S. Also crashing. This one keeps the wifi settings after reboot.
Crashes means that Volumio stops playing/no sound, drops the wifi connection and donât react anymore. Only a full reboot helps.
Please sent a log, just after this happens. As this is completely new we need info
I just got around to flashing 4.013 and on my Pi5, after new flash, but waited a bit to adjust settings, the system crashed out to âinternal Server Errorâ on web interface. Taking cue from this post, I flashed it again and immediately turned off wifiâŚseems stable now. Thanks!

crash of the rpi5 with msd card and Topping D10s
Here is the log of the device that is loosing Wifi settings:
I see some weird wlan related things in @Plunder logs. Maybe you can identify what is happening.
Just took a rPi5, V4.012, configured to only run WiFi.
Update to V4.013, but canât replicate this. Since it happens 2 different devices I expect a reboot of the router couldnât harm.
The problem with the 3-dot menu also exists in Volumio 4.013.
See:
Volumio 4.013 (Bookworm Beta) on Raspberry Pi 2, 3, 4
Unfortunately, I donât have any logs to back up my observations for Pi5 w/ NVME on 4.013. After turning off wifi, the system was stable and I had also used âCustom DNSâ. Upon reboot, onto another subnet, the system does not restartâŚlike the NVME doesnât even initiate boot. Iâll try another reflash and see.
