I’ve not used Volumio since my post.
I’ve run It now and You Tube cast receiver doesn’t work.
You Tube Music runs Ok.
My Volumio run on Pi5 with un external DAC.
So I have made some progress…well sort of. When using Volumio plugin to play a song, I am limited to 160kbps VBR. Same happens when I cast from iOS YT Music app. However, when using Android YT Music app to cast to Vokumio, I can get 256kbps.
Not sure if anyone else has a similar issue? Or are you able to get 256kbps?
Finally managed to fix the issue. I was using Youtube cookie in both Youtube and YT Music settings. That resulted in YT Music being restricted to 160kbps. I changed YT Music cookie to one from YT Music site (music.youtube.com) and I can get 256kbps streams now.
I just installed volumio bookworm beta 4.011 (on a proxmox VE), even though you have to sign up to volumio now, which annoys me, I just downloaded the plugin, activated, got the cookie and now I’m listening to music. Great. Thanks a lot for your effort and patience!
Hi, short question, I don’t know whose “fault” it is:
I access volumio, which is running on a proxmox VE*), through different devices (laptop, phone etc.) using its static IP adress. Once I start the music search from another device, the music stops playing. Is there a reason for that? It used to be playing until I eventually clicked one of the search results. Or is it volumio’s or even proxmox’ fault?
*)Installed according this guideline:
Did anyone successfully setup their Volumio with YouTube Music? I installed the plugin on Volumio version 3.512. When I choose YouTube Music and select Home, I see some albums come up but if I click on any of the selections, I get an error (failed to decode…).
I have Youtube subscription and would like to play youtube music through Volumio.
Thanks for any help/guidance/insights…
Please read: [PLUGIN] YouTube Music - #353 by patrickkfkan
Youtube2 is the only one that was really reliable so I’m keen to start using it again. The cast receiver hardly ever works reliably unfortunately (but good sometimes, hard to know if the other plugins are able to be installed as well).
I’d rather just search the youtube vid from the native volumio player.
Youtube Music - Still trying to find the ‘browse’ line in Chrome (F12) to set up the cookie. It’s all pretty convoluted, there used to be a login screen.
Always hard to know if the player and/or plugins should be installed using test mode or not as well. Chromecast just works but isn’t gapless.
Good day.
I was looking for a streamer that can play YouTube music.
I installed Volumio on a Mac mini by deleting Mac OS and the main Volumio system.
Everything works fine and I like everything.
I want to get a subscription for a year, but I am stopped by the fact that I can’t set up YouTube music.
I have a subscription to YouTube music for a long time and it works fine on a Sonos device.
I do everything according to the instructions, but I constantly get an error.
Help me set it up.
Another question.
When will you make a plugin for YouTube music so that you can log in using a username and password like on Tidal, and not enter cookies as you have to do now?
Best regards, Yuri.
Hi!
I tested the Youtube music plugin 2.3.2 on Volumio Beta 4.015. Clean install on a Raspberry Pi 3, no modifications/settings changed. Just installed Volumio, Youtube Music to see how it works on Volumio 4 beta as on old Volumio 3.xxx version the YTM plugin is not updated any more.
I set up the cookie as per instruction, and Plugin said “You are connected as XXXX YYYY” and was able to see my library and history. Playback at 256 kbps worked fine for the evening, everything worked great! Did normal shutdown from the GUI for the night.
The next day I powered Volumio up, but I noticed generic suggestions on YTM home page, clicked on Library and got the “Error” message. I checked the Plugins->Installed plugins->YTM->settings and the plugin says “You are currently signed out.” No changes were made to the system since it worked OK.
I tried to refresh the cookie, turn YTM plugin off/on, reboot the Volumio and combinations of these 3… to no avail. I can not get YTM back to successfully login into my YT account. YTM did play as non logged-in at 160kbps, then again after some of these combinations, it also refused to play whatsoever with the same error as the poster before “Error Failed to decode https://…”
I did a factory reset (funny enough it remembers my login credentials for Volumio), installed the 2.3.2 YTM plugin, set the cookie aaaaand… the same non-login issues. YTM settings says “You are currently signed out”, clicking on library gives “Error No results”. Tried to play something nevertheless and I get “Error Failed to decode https://…”
I’m lost here. I know how to get/copy the cookie, but YTM plugin worked one time only and no more. Possibly Youtube changed something again and now plugin doesn’t work at all.
@patrickkfkan please help!
Just use SoundCloud.
Out of the 3 different plugins can’t play or cast anything. Not sure why it’s so convoluted.
Must be an easier way to sign in or set it up, YouTube2 at least used to work reliably now none so.
It’s probably the nature of the player and development, testmode players and plugins, hard to know what works.
