[PLUGIN] Touch Display

Hi @RedEyeNinja ,

Prior i was using Volumio 3 on my Pi4 and didn’t have to change these 3 places manually…
The plugin did everything by itself.

And i forgot how to access via ssh and all that stuff… :frowning:

Thanks @RedEyeNinja! Unfortunately, changing it to dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d-pi4 didn’t solve the issue for me.

@Kampf_Keks_3000 were you able to fix it?

Hi @timmmm ,

I had no time to test ist yet.
And i don’t really know what exactly to do.

Greetings

For those of you who don’t understand German, I have translated my post into English :wink:

I have been using a Raspi 3B and the original 7" touch display for many years. Since the new Volumio version (v 4.069) cannot be installed via an update but only via a complete reinstallation, I was hoping that the installation of both Volumio and the display plugin would now be quick and easy. And indeed, the installation of Volumio was much faster than before. The installation of the touch plugin (v 3.6.0) was also successful. However, disillusionment set in when the display did not work. Everything remained dark.

As in version 3, I was able to get the display working by editing the “userconfig.txt” file.

To do this, I removed the SD card from the Raspi and opened the userconfig.txt file on my PC with the editor. The only entry there was

Add your custom config.txt options to this file, which will be preserved during updates

For those of you I added the following to this entry (See the userconfg.txt file I have attached.)

After saving the file, the SD card was reinserted into the Raspi and restarted. Now the plugin/display is working. It may be necessary to adjust the display brightness settings via the plugin.

I don’t know what the individual lines in userconfig.txt do, and I’m not familiar with Linux. “My” solution is based on hours of searching the internet.

The decisive factor was the English-language entry at 3.779 - after upgrade Raspberry Pi touchscreen display does not work any more - #36 by nerd

userconfig.txt (331 Bytes)

I hope that my contribution has been helpful to some of you.

I tried using it on my PI 5 with V4.067 and it caused music stuterring and the diplay never lighted up. I backed it out and back to normal. I miss that little guy so I probably will go back to V3

@jocoman

Because if you’re hoping for help. real, actual, useful help, you might want to consider the radical concept of providing some background information. You know, context. Clues. Anything beyond a cryptic one-liner.

As much as we’d love to channel our inner clairvoyant, our crystal ball is currently on backorder, the tarot cards are at the dry cleaners (again), and the tea leaves have unionized and refuse to work without a proper steeping ritual. So unless you’re planning to send over a carrier pigeon with a full diagnostic report, we’re going to need a bit more to go on.

Help us help you. Or don’t. But then don’t be surprised if the response is just interpretive dance and wild guessing.

My bad X2.

  1. It was a configuration problem on my part. so no further investigation required.
  2. Should have given you more info…next time
    Sorry
    J.

I apologize for my poor English, as I use a translator.
Please help me! A friend gave me a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with a touchscreen display, but without a memory card. I installed a memory card, installed Volumio 4.069 on it, installed and enabled the Touch Display plug-in 3.6.0, but the display does not work and remains dark. The screen is like this if it helps https://www.lcdwiki.com/7inch_HDMI_Display_ (H)

Hi @veldenvl

hdmi_force_hotplug=1
config_hdmi_boost=7
hdmi_group=2

Yes, but there is no result. The image was only adjusted at the beginning. After that, the screen turns black

Please post a log,

I tried it. The message “Sending log report, please wait” has been hanging for 10 minutes and nothing is happening.

Yes we have reported this internal.
Issue will be fixed on the next release of V4, which are currently being pressed :slight_smile:

Thank you!

@veldenvl please update to 4.071, the log generation has been fixed

Thank you!

I updated the system to version 4.071 and was able to send the log. The link http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/ze5vDgU.html
Also today I noticed a pop-up error: touch display error connection to xserver

Wat kind of Touch Display do you have? Raspberri 7" or HDMI?
