none of this works, the display always remains the same
remove everything where you added something with rotate

In your case, make sure you create a backup of your SD, using Win32DiskImager. So if you mess up the installation, you don’t have to do this again.

I installed touch display beta 3.3.8. It works but it was impossible to play music. Play button doesn´t react at all.
I revert back to vers 3.3.7 but issue still remains.
The uninstall script of the plugin version 3.3.7 (and previous versions) damages the system of the current/newer Volumio versions. I discovered that only yesterday. The issue should be fixed in 3.3.8, but I think you will have to reinstall Volumio this time. Sorry for that.

Yes, and only 3.3.8. 
there is no way to fix the damage before uninstalling the 3.3.7 version?
Yes, by running
sed -i '8d; 12,14d' /data/plugins/user_interface/touch_display/uninstall.sh
before uninstalling / updating the plugin.

I tried to install 3.3.8 but was imposible. I uninstall first 3.3.7 but new ver. installed with fault:
I install one more time 3.3.7 use your command and install 3.3.8 but… Volumio not react on Play button.
Tried to back to 3.3.7 but still can’t play music.
