Just tried the latest version, it is simply awesome!
Hi! A really awesome plugin. I noticed that my rpi 4 run about 12-15*C hotter than usual when Now Playing i active. When turned off temperature is back to normal.
Regards C
@ClaesM , what features did you enable? If you enabled the Weather Dock Component, turn off the “Animate Icons” option. Same with Idle Screen - there’s an option to animate the Current Weather icon. Make sure that is set to Off as well. Animating icons utilizes the CPU which could raise the temperature.
Thanks!
I turned both animate settings off and cpu temperature is back to normal.

@patrickkfkan will the plug-in work when I have the peppy meter plugin installed? I have peppy meter working perfectly and j just added the latest version of now playing from your repository , I’ve filled in all the coordinates and api keys but it doesn’t seem to activate , the screen just goes black when the system is idle
Thanks in advance
I do not have peppy meter installed. Maybe others who have could tell you. On the other hand, is it not possible to disable the peppy meter plugin temporarily, just to see if there’s a conflict?
If the weather somehow couldn’t be obtained, you should still see the time and a background on the idle screen.
I had already tried disabling preppy meter and I still don’t get anything on idle , is there anything else that could be causing this on a pi 4 with the official 7 inch screen?
They work very well together on my rpi 4.
If you are using the Touch Display plugin, could you confirm that you have the screensaver disabled (set Screensaver Timeout to ‘0’ in the Touch Display settings)?
many thanks, that was exactly the problem thanks for all your help and for developing such an awesome plugin
Managed to get a couple of hours last night listening, so far things seem to running fine.
but…
I have the volume permantly displayed on screen, now with this latest version, when I adjust the volume not only does the on screen volume change (like it should) I get a pop-up volume too, I cant see anywhere to turn this off.
Sorry about the pop-up volume. This will be fixed in the next version. Already did the fix but wanted to add proper language support before releasing it.
Nice one
Thanks
v0.3.5 uploaded. This is a minor update that fixes some of the UI bugs (@M1ck), as well as added the following:
-
Option to show volume bar when docked volume indicator is clicked (@ClaesM).
-
Translations.
- Currently, only ‘en’ (US English), ‘en-GB’ (British English), ‘zh’ (Simplified Chinese) and ‘zh-TW’ (Traditional Chinese) are supported, because these are the only languages I know.
- The displayed language is affected by the chosen locale under Localization settings, but you don’t have to choose e.g. ‘en-GB’ in order to display British English. If you are in Australia, you can choose ‘en-AU’ and the plugin will resolve to displaying ‘en-GB’ under its fallback mechanism.
- When I have time, I’ll post some instructions on how to submit translations in case anyone wants to help. There’s really not much that needs to be translated, and most can in fact be copied and pasted from Volumio’s language bundles.
Because this is a relatively minor update, and updating it from the beta channel means you will lose the current configuration, you might want to wait until it gets promoted to Stable. On the other hand, if you want to try it and not lose current settings, you can do the following:
-
Backup this file on your Volumio device:
/data/configuration/user_interface/now_playing/config.json
-
Uninstall current version. Then install v0.3.5.
-
After installation, copy the backed-up
config.json
to its original location (/data/configuration/user_interface/now_playing/
). -
Restart Volumio.
Have fun~
Thank´s a lot for this update! It looks awesome.
One thing. When enable volume bar by hitting volume icon, would it be possible to implement a button to disable volume bar from action panel in settings?
Best Regards/ C
You mean hiding the volume bar inside the action panel?
Yes, exactly! enable /disable just as in volume indicator settings.
Regards C
I’ll just add a switch under Action Panel settings to hide / show the volume bar. Next version will have it.
Good to hear! if you are on a small touch screen it´s easy to hit volume bar in action panel by mistake.
Thanks!
