No audio after 3.631 update

PI 3B and Digi Pro
I am getting no audio from the DIGI Pro after upgrading to 3.631. I have tried both its Optical and S/PDIF Outputs without success. The PI is definitely connected to the Internet Radio station I tested with as it provides the ‘now playing’ info to my display. Is it possible that V’s 3.631 config.txt and the addition of volumioconfig.txt are causing the problem, the combination is very different to my previous settings?
Thanks

Ok, seems your Sound card is not detected and/or drivers are not loaded or the DAC died…
Need the peeps from development for this.

Thanks again. I think the DAC is OK as it plays my CDs OK.
I did wonder if the HiFiBerry DIGI Pro was to blame but as this and the PI are installed in my Integrated Amp I was hoping for non-invasive solution !

The team from Volumio are looking into this.
I can’t see anything wrong in the configs.
Both are present.

Cheers

the log is full of errors from fusiondsp, it’s not possible to check the part that might give hints on the root-cause

could you please disable fusiondsp, reboot and generate a new log?

most probably it’s a hardware problem, the Digi=Pro HAT is not mapped, even if it’s declared properly in config.txt

Thanks for your help.
Removed fusiondsp and rebooted.
Tried to play Internet Radio station and got an alsa error !
Resulting log: http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/Ji8Fl8g.html

there are problems with I2C communication between the RPi and your HAT.

the WM8804 chip of the Digi-Pro cannot be recognized

Apr 25 17:46:19 pnbvolumio kernel: wm8804 1-003b: Failed to read device ID: -121
Apr 25 17:46:19 pnbvolumio kernel: wm8804: probe of 1-003b failed with error -121

it is definitely a hardware problem

Thank you for your help.
I will try a replacement DIGI and see if that fixes it.
I will post my results

OK, please keep us posted.

if you have another spare raspberry pi, give it a try. The hardware problem can be in both sides, HAT or raspberry pi.

I have a DIGI2 Pro so swapped that in, alsa errored on Internet Radio.
http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/qL68y29.html
Tried playing from my NAS, again alsa error.

still not detected! So the problem might be
Kali?
RPI

Yes just seen the same error in the log.
I will look for another PI, I think I have a 4 !

Swapped to PI4B but it is not appearing on my network. Perhaps the original IP address has been overwritten? This is going to take a bit longer…
Is it possible to edit the SD card IP info if I remove it and use WinSCP?

Removed the PI4 from Amp and assembled and powered outside.
Correctly linked to network. I think the short ribbon SD connector I have been using has failed with all the diss-assembly /assembly.
However my PI4B DIGI Pro+ still not working, alsa error and same wm8804 read error in the log.
Not sure where to try now? Which board needs to be replaced, or is it both !

i do suspect the Hifiberry.
Had similar issues with Hifiberry DAC+ ADC Pro

I think you are right.
I replaced the DIGI Pro with an older DIGI + and no alsa error.
Lashed up an optical lead to my DAC and Amp and it played Internet Radio !
Looks like I need a new DIGI board, are there any better ones than HiFiBerry Digi2 Pro?
Better for Audio quality and still compatible with a PI4B

Checking the HiFiBerry website they have had an issue with PI4s and early DIGI PRO2 boards and now make a revised version. Perhaps my swapping around was never going to identify the problem.
