Does anyone know if Volumio is working on a spotify Lossless update for the Rivo?
I have the latest firmware and spotify only does high. Lossless is not supported. This is getting beyond ridiculois now. May have to trade in/ sell the rivo
Hi @Cory
Please spend some time reading the last posts.
Starting at: New 2023 Spotify Plugin - #601 by volumio
Short answer… No spotify lossless suport… how is it that wiim can get it earlie???. I did not pay top $$ for volumio to fool around and asking Spotify on forum threads for support… get corporate invovled and sort the mess out if need be. Devs’ raise internal priority tickets and get on it. You cannot ignore a top platform being made look silly because of a lack of drive and effort.
Please, keep your tone in check.
If you’d actually bothered to read what I pointed out, all that ranting wouldn’t have evaporated into thin air.
And just so it’s clear, this kind of behavior is not appreciated in this community.
We enjoy a good discussion, but we treat each other with respect.
You can’t pin this on Volumio, Spotify won’t share their SDK. Unless, of course, you live in some alternate universe where companies hand out proprietary code like candy?
Oh, and one last thing, you’re not even paying for Spotify. It’s a free plugin… so maybe save the outrage for something you actually bought?
Tone check??.. is that your defense??.. how is it that other companies can get hold of the SDK and have lossless suport?.. why are they not sharing it with you? Are you not willing to pay for access? Whats the exact holdup?

I think this tone is called “entitlement attitude”
Hello. Is it possible that Spotify isn’t working despite having a subscription? I have two streamers on my Raspberry Pi, and both have the same issue. It shows the song and my playlists. It seems to be playing, but there’s no sound. It seems to freeze the volume. Restarting helps, but Spotify still doesn’t work! What’s wrong???
Which plugins have you installed?
Please post a log and copy the generated URL here.
Spotify 4.1.4 plugin. I’m logged in correctly, all playlists and files are visible. However, after launching, there’s no sound and Volumio freezes strangely.
Please post a log and copy the generated URL here.
please update to the latest version of the plugin, 4.1.4 is very very old and several bugs have been fixed since
It was indeed the plugin version. Thanks for the help and I apologize. Interestingly, I didn’t see an update option in the plugins. Only uninstalling and reinstalling helped. ![]()
Hi everyone,
while I don’t like the aggression in the posts by ‘Cory’ either, I absolutely understand his frustration.
I guess I wouldn’t like paying a couple of hundred €€€ for a technically top of the range (but sadly mediocre looking) transport/streamer, only to be told I can’t access Spotify lossless. From a customer perspective that is just not acceptable!
Imho the problem is Volumio’s decision to expand from a small software developer into up-market hardware some years ago with all its implications and responsibilities. Which were quite obviously neclected.
Unless of course there still is just some bad feelings from the guys at Spotify that Volumio’s predecessor mimicked their name by calling it RASPIFY. But I’m sure that could easily be sorted over a couple of bottles of Masseto.
Cheers
Michael
Hi All, thanks to the suggestion from Michael I went ahead to go for the upgrade of a high-end preamplifier, in which the streamer source is less of an influence to the sonic image. I’m very happy as it improved music presentation significantly, although a considerable investment it puts the streamer source discussion to bed for now, I can use either. I’m set to enjoy Volumio even better now and during the holiday season.
