New 2023 Spotify Plugin

Got myself A Tidal subscription for a month to play around and compare the two services. I am casually switching between the two and it is quite obvious that Tidal sounds better on most tracks I’ve listened to so far.

I’m currently running a Rivo+ into a dual Sabre ESS 9038 DAC to a Hypex based amp to PMC 25.3 speakers.

Spotify, if you’re listening, next month, or so, I’ll be switching to Tidal,… unless, … fingers crossed :crossed_fingers::ok_hand:t2:

PS: It is very easy to sync playlists from Spotify to Tidal

Price really, I wasn’t looking to spend a fortune - plus a quick trip to the local dealer who had a Black Friday special.

Hi there,
My first post and question. I’m happy with the musicality of the Volumio Primo however always struggle with connectivity. Today I activated the Spotify plugin but can only select 320kbps bitrate streaming quality while having a lossless account.
How to activate lossless?

See above

Volumio Primo is not an open-source product. It is a commercial hardware device developed by Volumio that runs Volumio software, which itself is based on open-source principles. However, the Primo device is a proprietary product, meaning the hardware and certain features are not open to public modification or redistribution. The software can be enhanced and modified under certain conditions, but the complete solution remains under Volumio’s control.

Has anybody seen, that the Spotify Plugin (named as plugin “for volumio 3” loses authorization and disappears after a restart?

no.

What system do you use? Raspberry Pi or another one?

@uli_3
Yes it happened more then once. Both rPi as x86 devices.

x86, with CMOS battery, so not a timing issue:

I have two volume 3. One RaspPI 2 and one RaspPi 4. For both, Spotify connect is not working any more. On Spotify app of my iPhone 14, it shows that it connected the volume but is. not starting playing the song. Same on both volumes.

Make sure you update the Spotify plugin to latest version

Thanks, solved the problem.

This has always been an issue and last time I brought it up, I was told basically, “It is what it is…”.

Hopefully this will be addressed for real now!

That’s why I’m also keeping Spotify… I have more 4 “costumers” on my family account… They would start a rebellion LOL

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a quick update about my earlier post regarding the lossless playback issues on Volumio and my conversation with Spotify.

I’ve reached out to Spotify customer service about downgrading my premium subscription because of these ongoing problems. They’ve acknowledged my concerns and said they’re looking into it. It’s a relief to see they’re actually considering our feedback.

If any of you are feeling the same frustrations, I encourage you to reach out, too. The more of us that speak up, the better our chances of getting some changes made.

Thanks for all your support.

PS: After downgrade from premium to basic family plan. You’ll get a voucher code to enable this you only loose access to the audiobook feature and pay less. The basic plan still supports lossless playback…
