This plugin has not been working for about 3 months! All the fiddling around doesn’t lead to any results. It does not work on 8 raspberries in my circle of friends! 2 now do without Spotify, the rest use a different programme. I just wanted to be helpful and point out that it’s a waste of time!
It’s a pity that no real moderator has commented.
Stop being melodramatic and describe precisely what doesn’t work, what you’ve tried and your set up, plus logs.
I use Spotify every day on 2 Volumio systems and it works very well, except for Connect for other users, if I’m logged in in the plugin. This is being fixed now.

I think it was a problem of DNS on one of my WIFI access point. Configure it in another way solve this problem : Dynamic DHCP instead of fix IP address.

Thanks for your efforts there, but I am pretty sure that we need to involve also the librespot dev… I just pinged him today about that…
I fear that having 2 instances on the same unit will just open a can of worm of new issues (and rate limit hits…)
I just happened upon this thread yesterday, and immediately installed Volumio on Pi Zero W and Zero 2 to test Spotify Connect, and it is working surprisingly great with USB DACs. I remember trying it about a year ago and it was a terrible experience. Thank you for the development of this plugin.

Great to hear! I’m curious though. Are you able to add and reorder songs when using Spotify Connect? Since there has not yet been a response it seems like I’m the only one with the issue? Thanks!
Unfortunately, adding / reordering queue is not working for me either. I tried doing it on both the Spotify windows application (gives an error popup “Spotify can’t play this now…”) as well as on Android (“successfully added to queue” pops up, but this is untrue).
If you started playing via Connect, then reordering only via Spotify app, not on volumio .
If you started via volumio library, then vice versa - reordering only on volumio, not on Spotify app.
That’s how it is implemented currently .

Hi, thanks for your anwer! Would you be able to replicate that behaviour? Because this is exactly what we have been trying to do. As Snorbaard mentions he is using the Spotify windows and Android app. Some posts above I have tried to explain this in more detail, including error logs.

I have tried to have a look at the repo, but must admit it is a little over my head and I have not been able to pinpoint where the issue arises. It would be great if someone could have a look, because the connect functionality (which was simply great in Balbuze’s previous version!) is lacking a bit too much without it.
While this is a good effort, suggesting to test plugins fork is not a good idea because then the feedbacks we will receive will make it super hard to diagnose issues and what we have to do…
As already mentioned, the multi user device needs a different kind of approach, and we are already working on it with the daemon developer.
I know it might be frustrating to wait a little more, but it’s the best choice to make sure we can support properly this plugin.

BTW, daemon developer you mean devgianlu ? Last time he actually suggested to use 2 instances to have multi-user device together with signed in. Now he is working on build-in solution? Nice, let’s wait then

Hi! Update on the development. First of all, thanks for all the reports of what you guys want to be implemented, this helps us acheive the goal of having the best spotify implementation out there…
What we are working on:
- Implement multi-user device (so our girlfriends\wives\housemates can play from their spotify app even when we are logged in)
- Implement queue management from Spotify App
- Fix minor issues and queue management (example: next not working)
No ETA yet, but we will keep closely posted

Hi everyone! I have a trouble with Spotify plugin 4.0.4 - I can’t enter into album or playlist, but I can play it. Volumio 3.611 and a previous ver. Is it cureable?
