Has anyone compared the Rivo to the Mano ultra mkIII farad streamer…

I haven’t, but the Mano is built around a Raspberry Pi I think, whilst the Rivo is custom developed and built to maximize the Volumio OS. I really like my Raspberry Pi set-up, but I’m pretty sure I’d get a lot more from a Rivo.

I hate to say it, but here we are. Sound-wise, the Rivo makes most of my gear sound like it’s trying to stream through a potato. I was the definition of skeptical, because, really, Italians building streamers? I figured they were just wrapping espresso machines in aluminum and calling it innovation. And yet… they pulled it off. The Motivo too. Unbelievable performance.

Will I ever admit this out loud? Absolutely not. I have a reputation to maintain.

You don’t mention what type of digital output you are wanting to use. This may determine which unit is better suited for you. The Mano is focused on I2S and RCA/BNC/SPDIF/AES/EB type output. It is not a USB streamer, but you like know this.

I enjoyed the Mano MKII with an I2S DAC for while. Then, when I switched to a USB DAC I went with a homebrew streamer. The Holo Audio Red is another interesting device.
