Low Volume with Precise

Hello,

I have the Volume Rivo+ which I was using with a Chord Qutest and a Rega Aethos Amplifier. I decided to get the Preciso for use with the Rivo+. After connecting the Preciso in place of the Qutest, I find that my Rega has to turn the volume up to 1/3 of the way to get the same volume level that I got with the Qutest at 1/4 volume on the Rega. I am wondering if there are any settings I should adjust. Any suggestions?
Thank you, Keith

are you connecting the Preciso to the Rivo Plus via USB or I2S?

if it’s via USB, please enable the Hardware volume control “PCM” and then increase the Volume to 100%.

I used the supplied USB. The screen read PCM. The volume only showed negative decibel readings.

what I suggested must be done on the Rivo Plus, please try it

On the Rivo+ I went into General Playback Options. Under Volume options was Mixer Type, and hardware was selected already.

that’s the first step, the second one is to increase the volume to 100% in the Voulmio UI

Thank you so much Darmur! I appreciate your help. I finally found the volume control and it was at 41%.

Hi. I have also recently purchased the Preciso to pair with the Rivo, and found the volume to be pretty low. I’m connecting via USB and the DAC feeds to a preamp and mono block combo. Although I’ve checked that the volume is set on the Rivo to 100 and hardware enabled, the playback still seems quite low. The setting on the Preciso is 0.0db. One thing I’ve noticed, when I was saving the changes on the UI a little volume wheel appeared on the screen and it said 41%, is this coincidence? I didn’t think the iPhone controlled volume so maybe it was set around this mark. All a bit of a head scratching moment

So, I’ve discovered that my iPhone will adjust the volume output! I didn’t think this would happen, thought playback volume would only be controlled by preamp?

If I have the setting on hardware, the phone can alter the volume. If I set it to None, it disables the phone volume changes

in your case, the trick is to set the volume at 100% with the Volume control set to Hardware, then disable it (setting it to None)

Thanks, yes I’ve now worked that out.
