Introducing CORRD: A New Way to Discover Music, from Volumio with love

You can try it for free for 2 weeks  Just login with a different email than the one you use for Volumio. Looking forward to hear your feedback

Cool concept. I signed up for a year with the goal if encountering some new tunes.

One initial comment. For work during the day, I prefer classical music and configured Corrd to select from this category. I had hoped to hear some lesser (or even obscure) classical composers and pieces that would not normally make it to the mainstream classical radio stations, but seem to be getting primarily contemporary music, which sounds like it belongs in the Ambient or New Age categories. I suppose the counter argument could be there is no ‘new’ classical music.

Keep up the good work!

An interesting concept. I planned to try CORRD, but it forces me to subscribe. Even though I can get 2 weeks free and “cancel anytime”, the app tries to trick users into a yearly subscription, probably hoping they’ll conveniently forget to cancel.

Sorry, but I hate these predatory user interface tactics. I deleted the app without a second glance.

Volumio addressed that subject earlier, there’s a reason for that: Introducing CORRD: A New Way to Discover Music, from Volumio with love - #14 by volumio

Very cool feedback! If you were to explain the improvement of the suggestion, what would it be? Have you tried fine tuning the prompt in the additional context to see if the reccomendation are better suited for you?

Sorry to hear that. As we already explained previously, we wanted to offer Volumio users with a big discount, however to do that we can’t do it with a trial in place.
If you want to try it for free for 2 weeks, just sign in with a different email (and if you want to avoid being charged, just cancel immediately).

We strive to do ethical products, so this is why it’s particularly painful when we are associated with “trying to do predatory tactics”, that’s not us man.

Thanks for the swift reply.

I did try playing with the prompts but seem unable to get only “classical music”. My preference, when only the classical menu item is selected, would be classical music is the European art/music tradition, so medieval to modern era, but composed for acoustic instruments and voices. This would exclude ambient and electronic styles, which are accommodated by other categories in the app. I realize this may not be a design goal of the CORRD app and just my personal preference.

For a different time of the day, I have gotten “Cooking” dialed in and serving up an excellent and eclectic mix of world and latin music!! This is a fun way to venture beyond the playlists and at the same time getting the audio quality of Qobuz.

Thanks again.

Hi,
I went straight for the yearly subscription because I think corrd could be — or become — what I’ve been looking for ever since Google Play Music ended.

So far, I like the app, but I’m really missing two things, especially since I loved the adjustable playlist function in GPM.

Please, please, please implement a thumbs up and thumbs down option to fine-tune the flow in real time. This would make me extremely happy, as I’ve been struggling to discover new music lately.

The other thing I’d love to see is Android Auto and CarPlay support.

Yeah I think you’re pushing CORRD to the limit here, it was not designed to accomodate that. But it’s really interesting and we have some thoughts on how to make it work more like that.

For everyone that tried CORRD, if you guys like it, please rate it 5 stars on the app stores.

This helps us big time! Thanks for taking the time to do it

I hear you, but it is a common tactic to force a subscription on users who want to try a product, because many forget to cancel and have to pay at least the first subscription cycle. Or forget altogether and pay for an extended time even if they don’t use the product anymore.

Nevertheless, it is a legal tactic, so you do what you think is best. For my part, it deters me from going forward with trying the app.

Absolutely, had to cancel my subscription via apple. The reason: it doesn’t recognize my volumio player and there is not much to tweak in terms of adjusting to my music preferences. And besides, why is it necessary to give my spotify credentials?

The app needs the credentials form Spotify or Tidal or Qobuz to push songs to your Volumio player.
Did you enable “UPNP Renderer” within your devices?

I’ve been testing Corrd for a few days now, and I really like the concept, but I’m still finding it a bit challenging to discover music that truly fits my taste.

One of my main struggles is that I often don’t know which genre I’m in the mood for, or which genre matches the music I’d like to listen to at that moment.

I usually have a rough idea of where I’d like to start, but for that I would need a “start track” feature or something similar.

If the current flow doesn’t quite work for me, I sometimes feel I’m missing the right controls to adjust it or guide it in the direction I want. And when I do find something I like, I’m not always sure how to steer Corrd further along those lines.

Could you share how you envisioned users adjusting or fine-tuning the flow to better match their preferences?

I think I might have found a glitch

I asked ChatGPT for a prompt:

Start with “Baby” by Four Tet. Build a flow of electronic music that blends downtempo, organic house, and experimental electronica. Focus on textured, melodic, and sample-rich tracks with emotional depth and subtle rhythm. Avoid mainstream EDM – keep it introspective, dreamy, and hypnotic. Think artists like Jon Hopkins, Rival Consoles, Floating Points, DJ Koze, Bonobo (early), and Moderat.

And well Corrd started with Baby by Four Tet and the flow seems pretty solid.

Still missing thumbs up and down tho

Hello team, for the ones that don’t use CORRD. Is there an option to remove the link from Volumio?

as a long time user, moderator and community developer I second
this. Why use in-app commercial links? It is annoying to a lot of people like me, there are plenty of other marketing options.
Btw. I like CORRD, super tool.

Even worst,I have a Corrd license, so I do NOT need to see the link, and NEITHER do Volumio.
It literally do nothing in my case.
Please remove it!

Thanks guys for your feedback about the CORRD banner in Volumio. We did not think it would bother some of you. Thinking on a solution to disable it.
