Help using a outboard DAC with Primo V2

I recently purchased a used Primo plus. I have past experience with Volumio using a Raspberry Pi. Setup was easy until I tried to use a new DAC I own via the USB2 to it. I immediately found the3 model DAC located in the output option. With that checked I tried playing sending the signal thought it. I had my integrated amplifier input from the outboard DAC selected… I got no signal through to it… What am I doing wrong? Thanks

How to report a problem

We need clear, complete, and specific information to help you. We do not have a crystal ball.

When reporting bugs, always include:

  • Your device model, storage type (SD, SSD, etc.), and Volumio version
  • A log link from your device (see: How to send a log link for a bug report? )
  • A clear explanation of the issue: what happened, what you expected, and how to reproduce it

If your report involves hardware, include:

  • Full identification of the device:
    • Datasheet, product page, or supplier/manufacturer link
    • Photos of the hardware (top and bottom), clearly showing PCB silkscreen markings, version numbers, and labels
  • What is connected to what, and how (USB hub, GPIO pins, power source, etc.)

Kind Regards,

Thank you for the reply. How do I remove the enclosure to see the printed circuit board? There is a small seal that will be damaged in the process.

Don’t open the Primo Plus, With hardware I referenced to the DAC2. Not the Primo Plus.
If you break the tamper seal, you’ll loose your warrenty.

Here is the data I can provide now. Music library is on a USB SD. It is a 2 TB drive. Almost all the recordings are WAV files… The outboard DAC I would like to try is a Topping D900 one bit

this is a Primo (v2), not a Primo Plus

it is not clear what your trying to do and what problem you have

To summarize:

  • Primo V2
  • Topping D900 Connected via USB

Problem statement:

  • Primo V2 Does recognize the Topping D900 in the dropdown menu, but when selected the output is silent?
