Do i need to format my microsd card before flashing it with Volumio

No need to pre-format the card. Imaging software (such as Raspberry Pi Imager) will automatically write the card in the necessary format. In the OS step, scroll down to the bottom and select “Use custom”, then choose the .img file that was created after you unpacked the Volumio zip download file.
