Hi guys having a frustrating issue i have installed x64 version on a mini pc running I 256 Sata SSD for os and 1TB nvme to music. had a few issues getting the network music location to map but eventual resolve but i am now having issues just opening the volumio internal storage on my main pc have tried all recommends no matter what i keep getting this
\volumio.local is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network name cannot be found
I’ve added a firewall rule, gone into windows credentials and checked the permissions which i am the admin.
not sure what I’m doing wrong haven’t changed the logon in for volumio all set to defaults.
just want to store music on its 1TB drive this should be so hard its shows in the system as a drive to install the os on so I’m now asking for possible ideas i haven’t tried I’ve also run the win11 fix for my email to pass through?
help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Wheaten, looked into your solution and tried both ways enabled and not with no luck I’ve even direct connected to pc with Ethernet and still no luck so far will keep looking into stuff.
Based on your Volumio network share issue, here are troubleshooting steps to try:
HOSTNAME AND IP ADDRESS
First, verify the actual hostname of your Volumio installation. The default is “volumio” but check Settings > System > Player Name to confirm.
Find the IP address of your Volumio device:
Log into the Volumio web interface
Go to Settings > Network
Note the IP address (example: 192.168.1.100)
Try accessing via IP instead of hostname:
Open Windows File Explorer
Type in address bar: \\192.168.1.100
Press Enter
WINDOWS SMB COMPATIBILITY FIX
Windows 10/11 have strict SMB security that blocks Volumio shares. There is a comprehensive registry fix:
This post contains registry changes that essentially roll back Windows SMB policies to work with Volumio’s SMB implementation. Follow those instructions carefully and restart after applying registry changes.
MOUNTING YOUR 1TB NVME DRIVE
For mounting your internal 1TB NVMe drive as music storage in Volumio:
Pay special attention to valid disk labels mentioned in that post. The drive needs proper formatting and mounting configuration within Volumio.
DEFAULT CREDENTIALS
Username: volumio
Password: volumio
When Windows prompts for credentials, enter these explicitly.
QUICK CHECKLIST
Apply the registry fixes from first link. Applies to MS Windows versions 10 and 11
Restart Windows
Access via \\IP.ADDRESS instead of \\volumio.local
Configure internal drive mounting per second link
Enter credentials when prompted
Which step are you currently stuck on - accessing the share from Windows, or mounting the 1TB drive within Volumio itself?
The only other thing is my system is a hp mini pc running only Volumio on boot drive ssd so not sure how to use terminal to mount drive, it does show up in setting as 1tb nvme so I assume that means it’s mounted and been picked up by os
Perhaps this is my incorrect understanding. I got the impression that the music assets SSD is separate from the storage where Volumio OS is installed. There is nothing else needed if they are on the same storage.
