Boot only usb pendrive

Is it possible boot volume from usb pendrive and installing it only on usb pendrive, without touch the pc. I’m on windows 11.

Thank you

It’s possible. A bit unhandy as you need to select your boot device every time. But yes you can.

Thank you.
Where can i find a step by step tutorial?

PS
Io sono italiano e Volumio è italiano, ma è praticamente impossibile parlare con qualche italiano che usi Volumio o che possa darmi istruzioni più dettagliate. Devo procedere con una lingua che non è la mia e rischiare equivoci.

This is not really a Volumio issue, you will need to read the instructions you got with your PC as settings for booting from USB depends on BIOS supplier, PC brand and model. There are many thousands of possibilities.
Your documentation might show you which settings for your particular BIOS need to be set to boot from USB as a primary device.
If your BIOS does not allow you to set USB as a default boot option, then @Wheaten 's remark is your only option.
In case you don’t have any documentation, then you have to refer to your vendor, there is not much we can do unless we exactly know which PC you are referring to.
Read the following post and answer in that thread and perhaps the team or a community member can help.

But this is clear. I know how boot from usb pendrive with my computer. I did with Daphile.
I want to know how boot Volumio.
Because i read that Volumio need to installing on internal hd of pc.
And i can’t want to get wrong.
Where is the iso for flashing usb pendrive and how i can installing Volumio only on my pendrive

you “can” transfer to a local hard disk, but you do not have to.
Booting from a USB pen drive is fine, there are no restrictions.

Where is the iso?

which iso? No need, you download the image from the volumio site and flash it to the usb pen drive. The image is the same for all storage devices. The image is a complete OS, will boot from USB and not affect your windows installation at all (as long as you stay away from the “install-to-disk” system menu item).

Yes I did.
But I can’t see my upnp dac device

If you can access your BIOS, then set the boot sequence to first USB and second to boot drive C. This way your PC will always start from your Volumio pendrive. If you need to use Windows, just pull out the pendrive and start your PC. It will then boot Windows.

Thank you I did it.
But now I know that Volume can’t sending audio to a upnp audio device.

If I would install Volumio on my linux system, may I use Linux and the app installed or I’ii get an only Volumio machine?

Volumio is not an app but an operating system.
You can chose to boot/run Volumio from a USB thumb

Thank you for answer. So i download Volumio ISO and write the image on my usb drive.
What version of Volumio ISO?
