Even then the GPIO pins remain the same.
Please note that other functions of this board no longer work, such as infrared if you are only going to use the i2s pins.
I personally would use a GPIO Extension cable and cut the 5 volt cable so that you can power the Raspberry Pi and dac separately.

but then again I don’t own this dac.

And michel! Is there a way to know which gpio pin are not used by that dac?

I wouldn’t know, but what I can see so quickly are the i2s signals, GPIO 17 used and 5 volts and possibly 3.3 volts and one of ground pins. the rest was probably sitting unused.
