2.8“ DSI Waveshare does not work

Hi everybody,
I ordered this dsi touch display

I installed the touch display plugin but the screen is still black. Nothing happens. There is only a green light on the backpanel of the screen that blinks.
Can somebody help me to get this display work?

In the past i tested 4.3“ and 5“ DSI displays from Waveshare. They worked out of the box.

Regards Daniel

Oh, find the solution on the Waveshare website- Put this lines in the config.txt

dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d
#DSI1 Use
dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-waveshare-panel,2_8_inch
#DSI0 Use
#dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-waveshare-panel,2_8_inch,dsi0

Screen looks nice but touch function is not available. Is there someone who can help me?

Good morning,

I don‘t know why but the display did not work anymore. There is only backlight on the screen. No picture no bootscreen nothing.
Please help me.

Please test with the K6.6 beta version.
Add display_auto_detect=1 to userconfig.txt

The Beta is for RPi5?
I own an RPi4.

You can also run it for the rPi4.

Thank you. I will try it in the evening.
I am a little confused about the configs in volumio.
There is
config.txt
userconfig.txt
volumioconfig.txt

Maybe i have written the commands in the wrong .txt
At the moment they are in userconfig.txt

config.txt and volumioconfig.txt are owned by Volumio. Every change you make in them will be lost during an update.
All user specific entries should go to userconfig.txt. This will remain even after an OTA.

Okay. Then all commands for the display must be done in the userconfig.txt

If you run the same screen as me, what you stated, The screen works out of the box with V3.757. I haven’t modified or added anything. This is just the first boot. (rpi4)

After installing the touch display plugin:

That is nice. I know it from the 4,3“ DSI and the 5“ DSI. They also work out of the box.
But i think my 2.8 DSI is broken. There is no bootscreen or something. I ordered a one it will arrive at wednesday.

Are you also running peppymeter with this screen?

Not on the rpi4, this was just as test for you… Using peppy as overlay when running the screen on the rpi5.

Thank you very much to take time for testing for me.
I hope it will work with the new display. Then i can test peppymeter with this tiny screen.

I have tested the beta without success.
Hope the new display will work.
