YT Music Plugin causes RPI3 to go zero dark thirty

Previously flawless and reliable RPI3 (Allo Digione into an old Aune X1 DAC) - decided to install the YouTube Music plugin and it’s now unresponsive.

The RPI is present on my network (Fing), but it’s not addressable using either the Volumio app or its network address.
Pinging shows a success (and wake on lan), but it’s still unavailable.

I guess I’ll have to yank out the SD card and reformat/reinstall Volumio.

A bit of a pain as I was about to press the buy button on a Volumio Rivo…

Any ideas/suggestions?

what version of the plugin did you install?

Hahahaha, that’s the irony of it.

It’s completely unresponsive, although I can connect to the hotspot the OS is not responding.

My RPI4/Moode setup however just keeps trucking along with no issues.

Ever.

I’ve asked what version of the youtube plugin you installed, because there was an issue with a previous version, that made the system not accessible from the UI.

To make the system working again, the plugin must be removed from ssh, and then the new fixed version can be installed.

Please be aware that plugins are developed by community members, and Volumio team does not have full control on their behavior… sometimes they create problems, like it happened with the youtube one due to an API change from google.

Hi, I am the developer of the YT Music plugin and a community member not affiliated with the Volumio team in any way.

Basing your decision to make a purchase on the outcome of installing a community-developed plugin is hardly fair to the Volumio team.

Most likely, you have installed an old version of the YT Music plugin, which would in fact cause the issue you described. This had been resolved quickly in an update and the latest stable version no longer produces this outcome, with the beta version being even more robust in this regard. You might want to give it another go.

Fair enough, although to be fair the addition of the YouTube Music plugin could be coincidental and the RPI just decided not to work all by itself.

Not to worry, I’m going to buy the Rivo anyway - these issues pop up from time to time and they’re usually just speedbumps in the road (I’m an old school Squeezebox veteran).

Having Chromecast onboard means an easy music solution for my partner, she uses YouTube Music and using BubbleUPnP is complicated for her.

Thanks for your replies, you’re most helpful.
