Hmm, thanks for that tip! It enabled me to get the SPDIF output working with the 1.5 image. And you’re right about the settings getting lost during a reboot. Not too much of a problem for me, as I usually leave the Pi running all the time anyway.

Maybe the other guys who aren’t managing to get any sound out of the Pi should try that ./Reset_paths.sh script (and then run the script for the output you want to use).

I wonder why it’s doing that? It’s something that seems to have changed since the 1.4 image.

I think he probably means you need to execute the command as ‘root’. Usually you do that like this;

‘sudo cp myfile.txt /mnt/USB’

Using ‘sudo’ temporarily puts you in ‘root’ (administrator) mode. You probably need administrator permissions to copy the fle to your USB stick

I hit that snafu myself. Maybe Michelangeo can answer that one. What I did was to copy and paste the text of the output into a message in the forum.

But you need to put it within tags so that it ends up in a scrollable box in the message, so it doesn’t take up lots of space in the thread.

There is the possibility that this is a problem to do with the Wolfson card, and nothing to do with Volumio at all. Have you got any software at all (other than Volumio) to play something out of your Wolfson card?

There are some very knowledgeable people over in the Wolfson Audio card forum on the Farnell website, that might be able to help you, if you post your ‘dmesg’ output there. element14.com/community/comm … wolfson_pi

I’ll compare your ‘dmesg’ output against the ‘dmesg’ for my 1.4 image (which works) and see if I can spot any differences. Not that I know much about the output of dmesg, but something might show up.

Already done. Just a matter of putting them up on screen side by side and wading through it! Some differences due to our different add-on hardware (USB sticks, flash cards etc), but generally it looks pretty similar. Even where there are ‘errors’ I’ve mostly got them too, so they must be ‘benign’.
