Since I carried out the latest update (and added the equaliser plugin- Fusion DSP ?) I am no longer able to transfer music to the USB attached to my system (Pi4 +DAC + touchscreen) using WINSCP. I get the error shown in the image below. None of the common reasons error criteria given appear to be met. All help and suggestions appreciated.

And this is good. You are not allowed to manually enter folders here. This folder is owned by root. This has nothing to do with the update.
If you manually want to add albums you need to do this in /data/INTERNAL
Until 2 weeks ago I was regularly transferring album folders from my PC to Volumio using WinSCP. It was quick, an efficient and very convenient method of getting my music onto the system.
As far as I can see the only changes made to my system were the latest update and adding a plugin.
I would like to solve the problem or have an alternative method of uploading my music suggested.
Forgot to say my albums are stored on USB rather than Internal folders for space and security (the volatility of microSD cards has caught me out in the past)

now I get you and also see the J in the path. Was under the assumption your where trying to create a folder in the root of /media/
How was the USB format as It seems there are some right issues.
the USB is indeed mounted as /media/<disk label>
What is the output of:
ls -als /media/ALBUMS/
An excerpt of the result of entering the command is:
total 48130
32 drwxrwxrwx 397 root root 32768 Jan 1 1970 .
2 drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 1024 May 5 17:54 …
32 drwxrwxrwx 3 root root 32768 Feb 12 2024 ‘10,000 Maniacs’
32 drwxrwxrwx 4 root root 32768 Jul 9 16:48 10cc
32 drwxrwxrwx 3 root root 32768 Mar 3 17:43 ‘A Band of Bees’
32 drwxrwxrwx 4 root root 32768 Mar 3 17:44 Abba
It lists all of the albums and folders.

no idea what’s happening unless the defaults for error4:
- Renaming a file to a name of already existing file.
- Creating a directory that already exists.
- Moving a remote file to a different filesystem (HDD).
- Uploading a file to a full filesystem (HDD).
- Exceeding a user disk quota.
None of those error conditions are true. As I say nothing has changed. It’s a mystery to me.
Also tried drag and drop in Windows explorer, used to work very slowly. Now doesn’t work.

Did you change the default PW of Volumio on a previous install?
Not that I can remember.
Roger
Decided to remove USB stick and look at it on a PC. It hung up a Windows device, then showed an error on Linux. Couldn’t fix the drive with disk checking and repair commands. Eventually used a Pi (gparted) to remove partition. Needed to use mini tools partition wizard to get it formatted. Just need to put music back on and test it.
Still like to know how and why the access rights changed, still suspicious of adding the Fusion plugin as it seemed to add various pieces of software during installation.
For sure, FusionDsp can’t set access right. The plugin has been downloaded tens of thousands of times never seen such issue…
But your USB get corrupted, maybe by a power failure…
The access rights were not changed according to the listing. It was access to the drive. No power failure that I know of, or restart. The plugin worked as expected, very well. It was after install that access via WinSCP stopped. I don’t know enough to be sure of anything and only linked the 2 things due to timing. I will get back to this after testing the repaired system.
ok! thank you for your feedback
Apologies for length of time since last update, been away from home.
It also took me some time to transfer music library back onto USB stick. I am please to report that everything is now fine. I can use Win SCP again to transfer new music.
Have not activated FusionDsp yet but will do. Also started to shut down the system overnight to prevent over heating as the USB drives always feel hot.
Only need to check if playlists still work !
