where or how can I increase the volume of the welcome tone/melody?
I can’t hear it at my normal volume, but I’d like to.

I figured it out myself…
/Volume/app
Startup.wav
amplified with audacity and reinserted/overwritten.
Now the startup sound is just as loud as the music being played, which is exactly how I wanted it.

But it may prevent from updating volumio Aas you modified something in /volumio…
Nothing has been changed, the WAV file is still the same. I would be surprised if this were noticed in an update.
But if… no problem… a new installation also has its appeal… 
Version 3.546 is installed…
