Web UI & scrobbling issues in Volumio

Hi,

I’m using Volumio in a Pi1 B+ with a PCM2704 USB DAC, and I’m experiencing the following problems:

  • Whenever I start playing anything (I tested MP3 files from a USB HDD, DLNA and webradio streams), i lose control of the web interface until the playback ends. It simply gets stuck into a loading bubble and I can’t use the system whatsoever. It simply dies in there. Wondering if the hardware simply wasn’t fast enough, I’ve attempted overclocking it. It feels snappier overall, but this problem during playback persists and it’s very annoying.

  • LastFM Scrobbling doesn’t work. I’ve obtained the necessary credentials for my account but no matter what I play, it simply doesn’t scrobble. I’ve enabled SSH and searched through the files for a bit, but I can’t find the debug log that I’ve also enabled to hopefully find out what’s wrong.

I’ve attempted disconnecting the DAC, reverting to audio jack playback, and disabling scrobbling, but the loading bubble keeps blocking the interface during playback.

Could I please get some guidance to solve these issues? I’m liking this system so far and it would be a bummer to switch again. :frowning:

Thanks in advance.

Hi mate,

I can’t help you with the loading part, seems like the network is being clogged in the Pi. Not sure what you can do about it.
Maybe some sort of QoS would allow for the webconnection to always be available, but I don’t know to achieve such a thing.

As for the LastFM scrobbling, care to tell us a bit more what you’ve tried? Did you use a plugin for Volumio, or a plugin for MPD? Also, if you used the plugin for Volumio, how did you install it?

There are several thread about LastFM, maybe someone had your problem too, especially if you are using the mpd plugin the posts might be of interest.
