I was using Volumio great for the last year and had no issues yesterday when i booted up there was a software update available so i switched off soundcloud and Peppymeter and did the update all went great but when it booted after the update I have a volumio screen that says player preparing startup but it does nothing. Please help.
there are some problems with the latest test images, due to some changes on the repositories we use for downloading the kernel
please re-flash the SD-card with the latest stable version and keep test mode disabled
OK Darmur,
Thank You for the reply
It happened to me too and I had to reinstall volume
Got the same problem here. How do I reinstall Volumio. It would boot and show interface but when I click on play I get an error message.
This has totally spoiled my weekend. If this doesn’t get results soon enough, I’m returning the Volumio Motivo. It’s now a case of not fit for purpose.
Sorry to hear something went wrong.
Can you do a full reboot and the share the log when the Motivo is fully operational, so we can see what happened.
You might want to check the audio output, disable multiroom, reboot and enable it again.
And if you want to reinstall you can go to system => system updates => factory reset.
Just reinstalled but now having issues adding my music and peppymeter
One issue is not being able to connect via putty if i try to connect, I get a message remote side unexpectedly closed network connection. If i try in linux i get connection reset by peer.
Check that ssh is enabled. You do this via the /dev page (add /dev to your Volumio ip address).
Thanks for the reply SimonE yeah i made sure to enable secure shell via the dev page. It should work as when i did this before I had no issues connecting, and havent made any changes with regard to router setup.
- Did you flash the image downloaded from Get Started - Volumio, or did you flash the image provided by raspbery pi imager?
- Did made any custom settings in the raspbery pi imager tool?
The image was flashed from get Get Started - Volumio using Balena etcher which went great I have been using Volumio on a Pi4 for about a year, and have been using Andy Wongs YouTube vid for installation but when adding Peppymeter I got stuck as I need Putty etc.
Please us Raspberry imager as instructed in the getstarted. There are many issues with Balena.
The image is working fine I think everthing boots and Im listening to music at the moment from Soundcloud just having difficulty pointing it to MyMusic collection and with PeppyMeter. If Im honest I dont really want to have to install again as even the DAC works now. However if you think this is the correct course I might not have a choice.
Not sure what is going on.
- You stated that you enable ssh in
<ip-address>/dev
- You tried to connect via ssh with volumio@, but are not able to login
- You can’t add music, I guess it’s a NAS mount?
- Your PC and Volumio are connected to the same subnet like 192.168.1.xxx
So to avoid killing your current install:
- So take a new SD or USB thumb, flash it with Raspberry Pi Imager
- Perform the initial install
- Enable SSH
- Try to connect using putty
What are the results?
I think its probably easier just install from fresh as I am not to far in, just to say I really appriciate your assistance with this. Over the last year with Volumio has been amazing and changed the way I listen to music.
I would advise to take a clean install. If this one fails to something else is going on. In this way you still have your current setup.
OK so everything is back as it should be, just having an issue adding my music it was working before. Its just a usb share drive on another laptop. Just keeps saying cifs issue, any ideas?
